Hello All,
I thought it was about time that I started a thread.
I am building the Blaxland 200E with NBG in the Macedon Ranges area (the block size is 719m2).
I have made a few changes to the standard plan to include larger WIP and a WIL (although the WIP is not as large as Dee's!) and to remove the dining section of the living/dining room. [ img ]
Here is a picture of the front elevation of the home. [ img ]
So far the key dates are: Initial holding deposit paid April 2010 Land Contract signed and deposit paid May 2010 Quotation Acceptance July 2010 Contract Signing (scheduled for Aug 16 - tomorrow)
The land is still under development, was originally supposed to be completed at the end of July, but appears it will be at least a couple of months away.

Hi,

Your plan is great, very big pantry.
Thanks, I love the large pantry. I also changed the laundry slightly to fit in an external door instead of the standard window.

Can't wait to see your colour selections...
Thanks Dee. The colour selections are still a work in progress at the moment.
So far, I have decided on Boral La Mesa bricks, Surfmist (for roof, gutters and fascia) and white window frames. Still deciding on garage door as the lady at Boral Select throught I may need to add a contrast and suggested Dune for garage, front door and mouldings around windows. Still thinking about this one.

Yep, quotes done properly!
We are having Surfist Roof, fascias, gutters and Garage door-the windows are white birch.....We actually considered the La Meas Bricks too but ended up getting Beaumonde instead..
I don't think that I would introduce the Dune unless you also had it in the gutters- but that's only my opinion!

Dee, I went to Boral Select thinking I would have surfmist for the garage door as well, and just introduce some colour with the front door. It kind of threw me when she suggested a darker colour, as I thought it would look better to keep to the same colour scheme with the surfmist. I am still thinking of sticking with Surfmist.

How did the signing go Michelle. Did you get to have a sticky around colourworld?
Signing went quite well. It look about an hour to go through the variations for things that they had wrong and some additional things I wanted changed. Although I dd get an email from them today to say that the "Easy to Read Specifications" I had to sign had the wrong builder on the top. They are sending me a copy in the mail to sign and send back.
I did have a quick look at colourworld (I had a more detailed look last time at quotation presentation). I mainly wanted to grab a few samples of the quantum quartz benchtops (apline, everest, ice and luna white) and have another look at the splashback colours.
I love the La Mesa bricks as well. So will be interested in seeing the bricks in your build as it starts.

I like the design of your house. Totally envious of your WIL! (why didn't we think of that ) Looking forward to following your build
Thanks Rowena. I couldn't use all the space with a WIP so decided a WIL would help with the storage. That way I can use the existing linen cupboard in the laundry for cleaning products etc. Can never have too much storage
I am following your build as well and happy to see you are finally making some progress.

Hi,
Just to give everyone an update. Next round of preliminary drawings were sent and only two problems I picked up (a powerpoint to be relocated was actually deleted, and has driveway drawn in but no path to front door). NGB have received signed plans and we have now moved onto final drawings.
My stage in the estate has been delayed due to the bad weather and they are now expecting construction to complete end of October and titles to be mid to late November. Hoping that by the time all the paperwork with NGB is complete the land will be ready....
I have my heart set on a Surfmist colorbond roof, but noticed my estate convenants mentions colorbond roofing must be non reflective? Currently dealing with shire, real estate agents and land developers to determine exactly what non reflective means and I have told them I want to use Surfmist. So hoping things go my way.....

Hi Rowena,
I very much doubt that I will be in by easter (even though it is late next year). Hoping to be in the end of August, but after reading of the experiences of you and Dee I probably should be aiming for Christmas next year....

Hi Dee,
I am hoping that the house will be finished by about end of August next year, as it is the perfect time to start the front landscaping and to try and get some trees established before summer sets in.
To update everyone, I heard back from the real estate agents and they said the vendors have advised that Surfmist is non-relective and meets the estate convenant. So glad I don't have to select another roof colour! I love Surfmist!

Hi Michelle, I love your floorplan. You will have lots of room and storage. We also are going with La Mesa bricks but have a couple of more weeks till they are available. We had to wait about 3-4 weeks for them to be made. We went to Boral and Austral to see if we wanted to pick another brick, but couldn't find one we liked better. We are having a wood colour garage door. Check out my thread for colours. Kay

Hi Kaytee,
I have been lurking in your thread for quite a while now, and noticed that you had selected the La Mesa bricks and that there was a delay. I have checked out all of your colours as well.
Yes the home will have a lot of storage. I really wanted a large walk in pantry as being shorter the top shelf of the overhead cupboards are too hard to reach for stuff So at least everything will be much more accessible for me.
I went to final drawings on September 9th and this process is supposed to take 4-6 weeks, so hoping there are no major delays. I really want to get to the color selection stage
At the moment I am trying to decide on paint colours for the internals. I love Wattyl Gracieux and have picked up a sample pot of this to test the colour for the walls. I love the colour but just not sure if I would be better off going for a lighter colour and if it may be too dark for the bathrooms. NBG do not allow half strength colours, so will am still looking. Planning on using Wattyl Flurry for the walls.

Hi,
Just to give everyone an update.
Contacted NBG and have been advised that final drawings should be completed by 21st October and the house will have been rated to determine its star rating by this date as well.
So hopefully should be getting a colourworld appointment sometime in November.
Land development still continuing and they were supposed to be finished by end of October. However with additional rain will not be surprised if this is delayed a bit longer as well.

Picking colours is fun and a pain. There are so many doubts, but just go with your gut instinct. It's your house and your colours not everyone elses. Kay
