Re: ALKIRA Homes 5Jul 08, 2011 9:22 am willcres Hello deltakilotiger ,francis, iwantannewhouse, Did one of you finally proceed with Alkira homes? Any info will be appreciated. thanks guys... Hello Everyone We are building an Alkira Kennedy. We have found them to be great thus far. We have a slab and the frame/timber has been delivered to start the framework. The original tender process was a bit drwan out, and they had a few changes with staff. But since then it has been smooth sailing. Their inclusions are great. We have not upgraded much but chose all of the packages that were going. You can watch our progress on our Blog. Re: ALKIRA Homes 6Jul 08, 2011 11:25 pm mattcaza, just read your blog...love it.. I got 2 tips today from your blog, he..he..about we can get free pick up from blacktown council & the rubbish we need to pay (must ask my builder about this, didn't think about it too..) thanks to you!! Re: ALKIRA Homes 8Mar 04, 2012 1:47 pm Hi there I know this is an old post but just noticed the recent query. Very good friends of ours built with Alkira so I can provide second hand feedback. They just moved in this week and we viewed the house today. They had a 7 month build for a 44 sqm 2 storey home which included Xmas shutdown and they were very happy with their SS. They had very few issues during the build, any that arose were recitified straight away. A couple of items they wanted corrected were fixed before my friend had a chance to raise the issue with Alkira. Overall the house looks beautiful and they are very happy with it. Because of their positive experience we were considering using them ourselves as we liked the Alkira "Olivia" which is on display at Homeworld south. Unfortunately the sales office there took 2 weeks to return our 2 phone calls when we rang with a few questions about the home. By that time we decided on using Wisdom as we had also heard good things about them and they were quick to reply to phone calls. We were comparing notes with our friends as to what was included compared to what we are getting with our Wisdom home and they seem quite similar. Are you building in a new land estate or are there some nearby? If you are keen, you could drive around new estates near your area and check out some Alkira builds. I have heard that some people have actually door knocked at homes built with the builder they are considering building with, to ask for their feedback. Good luck!! We built the Wisdom Majestic 40 - moved in! Our blog - http://ourwisdommajestic40.blogspot.com.au/ Our H1 thread - viewtopic.php?t=54156 Re: ALKIRA Homes 9Mar 04, 2012 2:57 pm Thanks for your response Onewheel. Your friends experience seems to be similar to another person's I have made contact with. They too were happy with the inclusions and quality of the work done but were frustrated at times by poor communication between themselves and Alkira. I wonder how many potential clients Alkira loses because they appear to have a problem returning phone calls? Alkira are about to open 4 new display homes at the new Homeworld 5 Kellyville next weekend. I'm planning to go along and have a look at these. Anyone else have any feedback? Feel free to pm me if you prefer. Re: ALKIRA Homes 10Mar 04, 2012 8:38 pm Hi nerak, I actually considered Alkira too before signed up with Wisdom.
Theirbuild quality & inclusions are better than Wsdm, of course the price slightly higher about $20-30k above..... but like Onewheel said, the communication from the Sales Manager was very poor. I happened to know her because she used to be Metriiconn sales consultant. She gave me quotes few week after we contacted her few times, I saw one of their finished house in Bella Vista, but they never follow up/ contact me after that , none at all, whether I'll accept the quote or not. Well, if you like their design & happy with their inclusions, go with them. A friend of mine also built with them & happy. Re: ALKIRA Homes 11Mar 04, 2012 9:16 pm Yep like Willcres, I believe Alkira have better standard inlcusions than wisdom but the sales manager was woeful, would never sign with Alkira while she working there, such a shame because we also liked the design and quality and were happy with the price. I honestly dont think you would have any problems with quality, the have a very good reputation Re: ALKIRA Homes 12Mar 04, 2012 9:54 pm nerak Just wondering whether anyone other than mattcaza have built or are building with Alkira? Any feedback would be much appreciated. After read this thread I learned I am not the only one felt about VC sales manager. Her communication/interaction with clients are below my expectation and I'm also thinking to go with either Wisdom or EBH. My home building https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=55844 Demolished: 11/May/12 Approval: 3/Jul/12 Concrete Slab: 20/Jul/12 Frame: 14/Aug/12 Handover: 21/DEC/12 Re: ALKIRA Homes 13Mar 05, 2012 8:38 am willcres Hi nerak, I actually considered Alkira too before signed up with Wisdom. I have been following your build with Wisdom and really like your plans I wonder why Wisdom discontinued the Boston design? I know this is the design your house is based on but I'm not sure how many changes you have made to the original design. I've searched everywhere on the net and have never found the Boston design Reading through your posts it seems Wisdom might be better with the communication side of things but the problem with them seems to be they are slow to react after the communication has taken place, e.g. it appears to take them a couple of weeks to process paperwork etc. any time a change takes place. So the Sales Manager was once with Metriiconn. That might explain why she is slow to return calls now she is with Alkira as I think Metriiconn employ a lot more staff for this purpose. I had a quick look at the Metriiconn display homes down at Homeworld South and it was a very slick operation - lots of uniformed staff who seemed well drilled in the sales spiel. Since my brief visit I have had a follow up phone call and at least 3 emails from them. I found their displays include so many upgrades beyond the base home that it just seems too hard to figure out how much it would cost to actually build with them. Also I can't help thinking that the costs would be inflated as someone has to pay all those sales staff. Despite my misgivings, I'm still going to have a look at their new display home at Dee Why - 52sq Lindrum Re: ALKIRA Homes 14Mar 05, 2012 8:48 am gogo65 Yep like Willcres, I believe Alkira have better standard inlcusions than wisdom but the sales manager was woeful, would never sign with Alkira while she working there, such a shame because we also liked the design and quality and were happy with the price. I honestly dont think you would have any problems with quality, the have a very good reputation Thanks for your input gogo I've been following your build along with the other Zens currently underway. No wonder I never seem to get any work done I'm really interested to see how they all turn out. It's a shame Zen have such a crappy website and no display home though I understand they are working on both. Despite this they seem to be very busy so they must be doing something right. I've been in contact with Sunshine T and have Andrews number so will keep Zen in mind too. No problem, nerak, glad to help you... I can email you the original Boston plan, but I doubt that Wisdom wants to build it again. the reason they delete it because there's not much demand for that size 2 years ago, the land is getting smaller and most estate required smaller house size. honestly, we actually modified more than 15 times....and didn't realize that it actually now similar to Manhattan, only a bit bigger... yeah, I agree on the admin side, they are very slow, but reading people's blog here, they seem to have a good quality finished house, so that 's why we stick with them. Thanks willcres! I would like to see the Boston plan so will send you a pm. I think you are right - a good quality finished house is the most important thing. Re: ALKIRA Homes 17Mar 05, 2012 10:49 am Apue After read this thread I learned I am not the only one felt about VC sales manager. Her communication/interaction with clients are below my expectation and I'm also thinking to go with either Wisdom or EBH. Hi Apue I'll be checking out EBH too. They have a couple of new display homes (new designs) that recently opened at Homeworld 5 Kellyville. Unfortunately, although they have listed the house on their website they haven't put the plans up yet - when I click on the link I get an error message. I've sent emails to their webmaster but they bounce back and a couple via their contact page but nothing has been done about it. The displays are not far from where I live so I'll just go there and have a look at the real thing. Good luck with your search! Re: ALKIRA Homes 18May 15, 2012 10:30 am Hi All, I have been reading all your posts re Alkira for a few months now and I just had to join the blog to convey my thoughts with Alkira. We have been trying to build a home with them for 8 or 9 months now and we still aren't through council. I have never met a company that is so frustrating and makes continual mistakes. I agree with other posts that VC is probably the main problem, with continual untruths and constantly telling you want you want to hear but not is what is actually occurring. We have paid $15,000 to Alkira but we are considering losing the lot and going elsewhere. We were just informed that the price has increased by $28K but they will discount it to us for $12K. All the way up to this point it was a fixed price! Now their designs are great and the quality seems excellent but the frustration with dealing with their administration is just becoming too much. Building a new home is always a stressful exercise but this is over and beyond what I would normally expect. My advice, for what it is worth, don't build with Alkira. Re: ALKIRA Homes 19May 15, 2012 1:57 pm Cruiser385, Sorry to hear that... I actually have seen their house in Bella Vista, newly built , last year. The finishing was really similar to Wisdom homes. At the end of the day, communication is very important when you build. Good luck! Re: ALKIRA Homes 20Jun 19, 2012 9:53 am We built with Alkira Homes and would never do it again. Cruiser385, we had the same experience as you with our plans. Alkira actually botched our plans up the first time and then made us pay to have them re-done. It took us many more months after this to get an approval despite going through the new complying development guidelines which should have shortened the time frame. We love our home but we had numerous issues from day 1. In the end we had to get Fair Trading involved and it was such a horrible and emotional experience. The great thing is Fair Trading turned up and found many other issues with the building that Alkira then had to attend to. I would never, ever build with them again and I would never recommend them to anyone. Do yourself a favour, save yourself the grief we went through and find another builder. It really shouldn't be as difficult as it was for us. I would never build with Fowler homes. I built with them in 2021 and till date maintenance issues are pending.
