Congrats on plaster. How exciting. Barbs prayers paid off.
Thanks Carlswil! I think the prayers did the trick for all of us!!!

:: congrats on plaster.....and very cool to get added insulation for free.....it is all looking great...
Thanks handmick! I'm so happy we got the extra insulation. It's funny when the frame went up and we were walking through the house I said to my DS that I wished we had added more sound screening to our internal walls!!!

Woooooooo HOOOOOOO Donski!! That is great your plaster is started that is soooo exciting for you!
I love that your DH head is in the piccy! I didn't spot it until I read it...kind of like Where's Wally!!!
Thanks Herbiecat We went past the house again today and all the plaster has been put up It was so good to be able to walk through the house and get a good feel for the rooms
I only noticed DH's head after I posted the photos! I didn't even see him first time round!! It is a bit like where's wally (minus the stripey hat & top!!)

Well, I guess the post title says it all really. I was soooo excited when my DH came home and told me that they all our cabinets had been delivered today!! He popped into the house on the way home just to check. Mind you, he did ask me if I wanted the good news or the horrible news first... He said that the kitchen, bathroom and laundry cabinets had been delivered, but that the kitchen cabinets weren't vinyl wrap. So I made a quick dash to the house just to check and sure enough, the kitchen was the wrong colour and the wrong finish. We chose (and paid $$$$) for vinyl wrap in 'polar white' and the paper work that was delivered with the kitchen today said that they were normal laminate in 'white'. NOT HAPPY JAN! We have emailed our CSA so hopefully she will get back to us tomorrow.
On a positive note, the plaster and cornices are finished BUT who knows whether this kitchen mistake will delay other things from starting...I hope not
Anyhow, here are some progress pics...

Oh no!!! I hope it doesn't take them long to fix that.
So glad that is not your front door .... funny seeing footprints on it though. Although it just goes to show that some of the tradies just don't care what they tramp all over.
I hope you hear back today from your CSA .... keep us posted.

House is looking fantastic though - so exciting!!
Thanks Rurallife! Well good news today- our CSA gave us a call first thing in the morning to talk about the kitchen situation. Apparently the kitchen company got the order wrong. They decided to install the kitchen cabinet carcasses today anyway- without the end & side panels and without the drawer fronts and doors. We were told by our CSA that it will take about a week to get the new kitchen bits.
One of our friends asked us why there were muddy footprints all over our new front door! That's why I mentioned that it wasn't our proper one! Tradies just don't care do they! We have footprints on our walls and roof too

Donski,
Did they put your cornices in straightaway or do they wait a while after walls and ceiling have been installed? We have our walls and celings up but they did not come back to do cornices as yet and I was wondering if they leave it for a while. Your build looks great, exciting getting cabinets in albeit the wrong kitchen ones, which I'm sure they will resolve for you. Good luck for the rest of the build.
Thanks Ring! Our plaster was started on a Wednesday, I think it was finished by the Saturday (or there abouts) and the cornices were put up the following Saturday- so it took about a week. Hopefully you won't be waiting too long!

It's all coming along nicely!! Yay for cabinets and boo to the idiot that made the wrong ones!! Hopefully it's not much of a delay
Thanks Barb!! I was SOOOOO excited today seeing all the cabinets installed- even the kitchen- even though it's not finished yet! Only one more week to wait so that's not too bad!!

Looking great mate - hope the Cabinets are resolved soon - Seeing yours go up is just us fast forward 6months!!!!!
Thanks Brad! Luckily the cabinets weren't too much of an issue after all! 6 months will be here in no time I'm sure! Time usually flies by - it's only when you start building that it seems to stand still!!!
Now without further ado.... some pics! (For some reason some of the photos didn't want to resize but I've spent too long on photobucket now so I'm not going to fix them!!! )
Our kitchen- minus the side/end/kick panels, doors and drawer fronts!! The overheads are covered in a protective sheet! And the overhead in the fridge cavity hasn't been installed yet. [ img ]

Glad to hear it won't take long to fix, it's going to look so good when it's all done
Had to giggle with the footprint on the bench .... and having them all over the place
Thanks RL I went down to the house with my parents today to show them the progress and now that we've spoken about it, I couldn't help but notice all the footprints They really are EVERYWHERE

Cabinets and handles look awesome, love your overheads, beautiful
Thanks Barbs! I love our handles too! It's funny I'd forgotten which ones we had actually chosen at colours (seems like such a long time ago now) I had another one pictured in my head...although I must say, the handles we do have look much nicer then the ones I had imagined

Thanks Herbiecat! I'm loving our overheads too! Can't wait to pull off the protective sheet and see what they look like underneath! Although I'm definitely going to need a step ladder to reach them!! (Mind you I can't reach normal overheads either )

More progress this week It finally feels like things are starting to move along A carpenter was in all day yesterday hanging both our internal and external doors and fixing the architraves and skirting. He still has alot of the skirting still to finish...but it's getting there! Here are some pics....
Our laundry with the cupboard doors and external doors both hung. Now we just need to buy another doggy door! [ img ]
