Wow Donski, your house is really starting to take shape! I agree, your brick layer is messy  It does look great though!

Such a pain when you get emails saying one thing and then nothing happens. I hear your frustrations .... but I guess at least you are getting emails :)

Those ceiling fans are awesome! We thought about getting fans again but I decided I may as well just leave the ducted cooling fan on at night (and switch the air/con off) and see how we go with that ..... although I can see me having to go shopping next summer LOL.

Looking forward to seeing more progress pics :)

Our brickie is very messy Ruralife but I can't complain too much because he is doing a good job laying the bricks!! (I wonder whose job it will be to clear up all the mess around the house though!)
We decided that we would definitely get ceiling fans for this house. Our old house didn't have them and we always used to run the pedestal fans in our bedroom at night in summertime. Being lazy I decided to buy the remotes too so that I can turn the lights off while I'm in bed   Ducted airconditioning is definitely the best way to go! I'm sure having just the ducted cooling fan on will keep your rooms cool enough at night- usually all you need is a little air movement. If it gets too hot I guess you could always turn the air/con on for a little!! We are going to get a wall mounted air conditioner in our family room so hopefully that will keep our main living areas nice a cool in summer too. I suppose we will find out when we move in...whenever that may be!

I like those ceiling fans Donski! I am really hoping that our sparky has picked out one just like that for our alfresco area. I would be very happy if that is the case! :: ::

I think the builder cleans up the rubbish on the site sometime before handover.

Thanks for the comments on my thread Donski. Aparently brickies are a rare breed, who would have thought.
I was just reading over your thread and must admit I am in love with the layout of your house. You have done a magnificent job on your colours too.
I will enjoy watching your progress also.
Good luck for the remaining journey.

Hi Donski,
I wanted to jump on board your thread too :D
Your house plan reminds me a little of mine, I love how the kids area is completely tucked down the back of the house ::wink::
Your home is coming along nicely, looking great!!
Cheers Barbs.

Thanks Herbiecat!! We spoke to our SS on Tuesday about the mess and he said that they will be doing a site clean soon...thank goodness :D :D

Thanks Cous. Looks like we're both at about the same stages in our build :D Do you know that I am STILL stressing about our colours and internal selections ::wornout:: ::dizzy:: I'm sure I'm going to love them when I see them all together but it's just the unknown I think!!!
Thanks for the kind words and I look forward to watching your progress too!!

Hi Barbs! Thanks for joining the thread! I just had a quick read through your thread (all 32 pages  ) What a gorgeous house you have :D :D I love your front door. It's such a grand entrance with the wider door too!! The wall of storage in the laundry is great too. No doubt it's been easy to fill!!! Our plans do look similar in some ways...I love how the kids area can be closed off at the back of the house too!! That was one of the things I liked about our house!

Well, what can I say...our bricks are STILL NOT FINISHED!! Only have three more window sills to be bricked and they are done! (For some reason the brickie pulled down two of those sills so they have to be rebricked again) It's only taken a good 5 weeks!! I only hope the rest of the build moves a little faster!!
On a positive note, our eaves carpenter has finished the eaves and our plaster and cornices were delivered today :D :D Insulation batts was meant to be delivered today too- but no sign of them. They are meant to start putting them in tomorrow, so hopefully they will be delivered then. Our SS also told us that our kitchen and bathroom cabinets are ready so as soon as the plaster is finished they can be installed!! He said he has booked to have them installed next Friday if all goes well. I'm so excited- but I 'll have to try not to get my hopes up too high...I have been disappointed in the past :(

Any hoo...here are some pics!

Only a temporary front door at this stage...

Front facade- hard to take because of the fence and skip.

Cornices in our kitchen

And plaster in our living room

Hopefully I'll have some insulation and plaster pics by the weekend :D :D

Yay Donski!!! That is cool! Your plaster will be up in no time! The insulators only take a couple of hours so hopefully that will all happen for you tomorrow and your bricks can be finished tomorrow! :z: :z: :z: :z:

Your house looks great. Hopefully you do have plaster pics for us by the weekend (hopefully I do too). Seems you and I are up to about the same stage. Fingers crossed your brickie is done by now, or by the end of the day.

Looks like you're at the same standstill we're in. Really we've had no action for over 2 months and just found out 2 weeks ago the SS has quit with Henley. New one onboard now and seems a bit of fixing going on. Our plaster has been in piles for about 4 weeks so far, meeting the SS this week so here's hoping he has more news than the updates have been giving ::celeb:: Everything has been yes plaster finished next week, then I get the same update yes plaster finished next week. Bricks were done for ages but no roof. Can only laugh.

We are checking with our conveyancer though to see what defines lock up, as they hit us up for that major payment and we've been paying interest on it. May then send them a bill.

Oh bugger. Don't you hate when you post a BIG reply and then you lose it ::angry:: So i'll start again....

Thanks herbiecat! I was hoping that things would go that quickly for us too! Unfortunately when I had a quick drive past the house today, the insulation batts were no where to be seen :( Maybe tomorrow?????????

Thanks Carlswil. My fingers, toes and everything else is crossed for us both!! I hope that we will both have some plaster pics to post this weekend! Our brickie WAS working on the house today but it looks like he still has one more window sill to brick. So our bricking STILL isn't finished (but oh so close)

Oh Notremaison, I really feel for you ::sad:: I can't believe that your plaster has been sitting there for 4 weeks ::frown:: I wouldn't know whether to laugh or cry! I really hope that the delay was simply because of your old SS leaving and that your new SS gets things moving along quickly for you ::smile:: I don't know why our builder bothers sending the weekly email updates really. Like you we kept getting the same email week after week- bricking is going to commence next week. Hopefully we were just unlucky with our bricks and that things move along quickly for us too. Only time will tell I guess....

Look like we are in the same situation regarding our lockup payments. We received our lockup invoice at the start of last week. We had an onsite meeting with our SS the next day and he told us that lockup stage is complete when the bricks and roof are finished. He told us our bricks would be finished the following day so we decided to pay the invoice anyway. Now one week later and our bricks are still not finished (we DID have rain last week so that probably didn't help) But in the meantime like you, we are paying more interest than we technically really should be. Next time I think we will wait until we see that the stage is completed fully before we pay- more money in our pockets at the end of the day. Oh well, you live and learn!

Here are the pics as promised- I didn't wait for the battery to fully charge- I was too impatient!! Like I said, the battery died so I only have a couple but here they are.....

One of the kids bedrooms at the back of the house. We paid to have some sound insulation in a few of our walls (between toilet and bedroom, laundry wall and living room) They must have had lots left over because they have added sound insulation to most of the internal walls- couldn't be happier about that!!
