Fixing stage now complete awaiting details of completion date and handover. Re: Crossovers 3Oct 22, 2007 9:08 pm Ours was in when we bought the block. A builder friend reckoned it would have been about $2500 to have had to move it (I assume he meant getting rid of the existing and laying the new one).
Ray. Second Time 'Round Re: Crossovers 4Oct 22, 2007 9:09 pm We were going to get the builder to do it for us but have been informed by them that they can't as it is council land. So we will do it ourselves, the costs so far are $113.00 for permit and approx. $1200.00 for the concrete but we already have the bit in the gutter. Hope that helps. crossover 5Oct 22, 2007 10:02 pm Question the crossover is on council land? then why isnt the council laying them? or the developer. years ago im sure every person who bought a block of land already had the crossover there. i dont have a crossover only a layback that part near the gutter. now it seems we have to pay to have it laid. .. slugged with more extra costs. crossover 6Oct 22, 2007 10:04 pm Question the crossover is on council land? then why isnt the council laying them? or the developer. years ago im sure every person who bought a block of land already had the crossover there. i dont have a crossover only a layback that part near the gutter. now it seems we have to pay to have it laid. .. slugged with more extra costs. Re: Crossovers 7Oct 22, 2007 10:11 pm Clath, I suppose the advantage of these blocks are that the drive is the same colour concrete from the curb to the garage, and it makes the front yard look bigger with no footpath. maybe your builder will do it for you to save the messing around after Re: Crossovers 9Oct 22, 2007 10:48 pm off2theburbs How much did you pay for your crossover. Was it done by builder of privately. If you don't mind me asking You can buy blocks of land with no existing crossover?! [sneakersss] Re: Crossovers 10Oct 22, 2007 11:14 pm We took out the existing crossover (wrong side of the block) & put a new one in. The permit cost something like $57 (but don't quote me on that because I can't remember exactly) & the crossover, (long) driveway & back door step were all done privately at the same time for the princely sum of approx $2000.
Then next door started building & the crossover was damaged by trucks on the first day. Grrrr. Re: Crossovers 11Oct 23, 2007 1:38 pm Shire of Swan (my council) givbes you $400 towards the cost of a crossover and then the rest is up to you to do to meet their requirements. we have the footpath on our side of the street so we don't have as much. The builder is going to do it for us, just wanted to know if the $1200 they were charging us for doing the crossover in pavers was reasonable. Can't believe you don't have foot paths on both sides of the street over in Perth... Currently Building in Bayside (Brighton East) Re: Crossovers 13Oct 23, 2007 2:43 pm vlad,
try coming out to the new burbs.... 1 pathway down 1 side if you are lucky!! They take up valuable building space... Re: Crossovers 14Oct 23, 2007 8:09 pm who neeeds to walk on both sides of the street anyway Building again . . with Redink Pre-start 04/12 Keys - 03/13 Finishing off. . . Is it from where a footpath would be, or is it the kerb?
Ray. Second Time 'Round Re: Crossovers 16Oct 23, 2007 8:31 pm I couldn't work out what the crossover was until I read a few of the replies - very odd! didn't even imagine that councils/estates would sting people for what would be considered common property! I guess the benefit would be being able to choose which side your driveway is on... If we want to change ours I guess we would have to pay for a whole new "crossover"!! Ruth -Bought house in Melbourne inner burbs, knocked it down & now...we are owner builders! Completed OB project and moved in to our new home with our new baby in May 2009! I guess so, seems unfair that you don't get to choose where you want you driveway on your own property but hey at the end of the day whats $800 (after rebate) in the grand scheme of the cost of the house.
