I know Sydney Water has stopped expanding the recycled water pipes to the rest of Oran Park but depends which release you've bought.

Question to fellow Firstylers- Anyone building in Liverpool area?? Does anyone know about driveway policy? We have on our drawings the driveway being stenciled up until the boundary, and from there to the kerb its plain concrete. Was told this was a new requirement by council. Anyone else heard about that? I have seen this done in some estates, and honestly its UGLY. Haven't noticed that in the Liverpool area, hopefully there is a loophole if there is a new requirement.. Otherwise we gonna have to have plain concrete all the way. Also when u guys refer to signing paperwork, what stage of the paper work would that be? Just want to get an idea how long before we see work done on our site. Was estactic the other day coz we saw a Firstyle billboard on our land hehehe.. But know we have to wait until council approval before we can see work. Re: Any experiences with Firstyle homes 85May 01, 2011 9:18 am twoplus1 Hi All, Preliminary plans back. You can find driveway information for Liverpool at: http://www.liverpool.nsw.gov.au/constru ... m#driveway "If the vehicular crossing is constructed in material other than plain concrete, Council will not be responsible for restoration or repairs in material other than plain concrete" Looks like you are allowed to build stenciled concrete all the way to the kerb. In terms of work on your land. My experience would be: add 4-6 weeks to finalise your plan and submit to council. add 8 weeks for council approval. add a couple of weeks to demolish or move from your place (if required) and for the council to provide a construction certificate. 4 months min from the prelim plan. TG1 Re: Any experiences with Firstyle homes 86May 01, 2011 9:26 am normette Fellow Firstylers, Has anyone selected a wood-grain look laminex for either their kitchen or bathroom vanities? I picked Formica Idyllic for the bathroom vanities and it cost $450+gst as an upgrade - I was under the impression that if they sent me a colour chart with formica/laminex colours then every colour was fair game. Anyone else get charged an upgrade for this option? Yes, me too I have been quoted with the same amount for selecting pattern coloured laminex for the kitchen's cupboards. However, did not accept the quotation and are going with one single colour for the cupboards. TG1. Re: Any experiences with Firstyle homes 87May 05, 2011 3:57 pm Just about to sign prelim tender with Firstyle, guy at Oran park was NOT very helpful. Does not know much about contracts, I had to pull him up on no less than 7 items in the tender, even the Coucil regs on water tank size!!! Let's hope it gets better.... Re: Any experiences with Firstyle homes 88May 06, 2011 3:04 pm Does anyone know how many brick layers are usually assigned by firstyle? After waiting 3 weeks for brick layers to become available, Firstyle assigns only 2 bricklayers on a 2 storey house. And they tell me this is normal? This surely does not seem right, and it seems as if Firstyle does not consider our best interests (considering we've experienced a massive delay with building this house due to a range of reasons). Re: Any experiences with Firstyle homes 89May 14, 2011 1:57 pm Hi all Spring farm Dave you said that the guy at Oran Park was not that helpful and you had to pull him up on some of the Council Regs could you share if possible for I 'm building at Oran Park and don't want to get stung by and Council Regs that I have not been told about. Re: Any experiences with Firstyle homes 94Aug 12, 2011 11:46 am Hi Everyone... Did someone here asked firstyle to install Daikin inverter system? I did and they installed RQ200KY1 outdoor unit. I went to see craig at Oran Park and he was GREAT!!! I feel very good about the whole thing. How has everyone else found the process? What are the standard tiles etc like for the bathrooms? Did you end up spending much more at your colour selections and electrical? Also what have people done regarding downlights? Re: Any experiences with Firstyle homes 98Sep 19, 2011 11:46 am Hi All, I apologise in advance for my lack of knowledge in this area and if I’m asking some really silly questions. I’m a first home buyer and am looking at purchasing a new home. I went to Park Bridge at Middleton Grange recently and was impressed with Firstyle’s display homes. I was talking to the salesperson and wanted an answer to what I thought would have been a simple question – If I have already purchased the land and I wanted to build the house as is (no additions or modifications), what other things would I be charged for? Unfortunately I didn’t get a clear answer and I was basically told that we would discuss those costs when I have purchased the land and was ready to build the home. I was just wondering what things other people have been charged for? I assuming things like tiling, carpeting, landscaping and electricals/wiring aren’t included in the price? In your experience, how much more should I provision in my budget for all these costs? Thanks for your advice in advance! Cheers, Steven. Did you end up spending much more at your colour selections and electrical? Also what have people done regarding downlights? SusieBunt, C & E are great, really good if you want to tweek the plans. Summary - the sales staff at Oran are excellent, the pre-construction admin staff could improve some, the colour selection process is basic (but I understand they are building a new colour selection centre to replace the Casula garage), construction supervisor is great, but of highest importance, the build quality is good so far (my frames finished today ). Re downlights - I passed except for a few over the vanities. I personally like light fittings - you can change them whenever you want to suite the decor. normette Building a Firstyle, Oran 30 aka THE BIG 'O' Re: Any experiences with Firstyle homes 100Sep 20, 2011 5:38 pm Hello fellow firstyle home builders. my home is complete. started 17 jan this year and finishing tomorrow. build quality is good.
