Unfortunately i couldn't make extensions i wanted in the house. Hope you have a great time in building your dream house. Just make sure you have done your homework regarding your selections prior to going to the FS studio... Re: Any experiences with Firstyle homes 302Jan 30, 2017 2:50 pm markandsam Hi all Question for those that have gone before me I have been speaking to Firstyle and going through their process, the $15,400 payable upfront for stage 1, at the end of the conversation I was not really clear when it's payable. Is it to get the tender or payable when the tender is provided and your signing up? Also once the tender is done does that make it a fixed priced tender or one with allowances for thanks like site costs? Thanks in advance markandsam For home and land packages, the $15,400 is for the draft fixed price tender. Then you can request upgrades etc which they will price up and you will have to sign again to confirm the ones you want. Re: Any experiences with Firstyle homes 303Jan 30, 2017 6:42 pm Thanks Vulcan - we are mostly going stock with about 3-4 variation to the build. Hopefully we will get it all sorted for the second tender. My view in all these types of builds is the variations tend to really add to the cost of the build and puts you at risk of mistakes/miscommunications with the builder. So my focus is to do the variations/changes that could not be done post build. Re: Any experiences with Firstyle homes 304Feb 07, 2017 10:33 am For those of you that have finished building or are near completion, did firstyle install the hob switch on your kitchen splashback? We asked at our Clipsal appointment for the stove switch to be mounted in a cupboard as to not look horrible in our splashback. I have now seen they have installed it on our splashback where we requested a powerpoint and installed the power point close to the stove. It looks horrid. And I will be sighting it as a defect. But just want to know if we can also have them remove the hob switch as it was not where we asked for it to be. We have currently been building for 8 months. Starting to get VERY frustrated at their delays. Re: Any experiences with Firstyle homes 305Feb 07, 2017 5:18 pm Thats is very odd. Mostly the CT and RH sockets are concealed inside the cabinets. Talk to your SS. My construction is yet to start. I'll remember to point out this issue to my SS. Re: Any experiences with Firstyle homes 306Feb 09, 2017 10:22 am Bhoot Thats is very odd. And we specifically asked for it to be in the cupboard. I wonder if legislation has changed and maybe legally it can't be anymore. But if it can - they've now cut holes in our tiles. Which can't be patched! Not only that, they've installed the hob switch where the Power point should be. They will be asked to move it. Had quite a few issues with them to date so will be very glad once it is done. I've attached a photo. We have not had a proper site inspection though to take measurements to the positioning of our lights but we are going to look very carefully at electricals when we are having a our final walkthrough. We are pretty disappointed as well that our site supervisor has had little, close to no contact with us at all. They forgot a power point in the microwave hole too. I honestly don't understand how they missed one of the most used points in a house??? We haven't paid much attention to the lights as we are replacing with down lights straightaway. We have done our practical completion walk through and have been given our 6th move in date. That's right - 6th. We were originally told before Christmas. We are now in March. Not happy at all. Where are you building fluffyjonz? We ask and we never get an answer. It has been such a frustrating experience. And a very upsetting one at that. It also took 6 months to sort out the paperwork before we even started building. We have also had mistake after mistake. That has cost us a lot of time. The one thing holding us up was a mistake 6 months ago they still haven't corrected. But as it is part of the facade it will inhibit handover. This is our first home and unfortunately it has been such an upsetting experience I believe we will never build again. Re: Any experiences with Firstyle homes 318Jul 25, 2017 11:05 am So FS started with my build and have done a bad job with the slab. Garage slab has holes & needs to be relayed on the top and now they are talking about pouring some concrete in the back portion as well after making some holes (seems like engineer is not happy with the concreters). Anyone experienced this with FS or any other builder? Should I be concerned about strength etc of the slab? Hi Kaiser85, We are building with Firstyle Homes. Our build has just started, slab pour is on Saturday (hopefully!). Their standard range is pretty good.
