Can't wait to see these windows that have caused so much angst!! Lucky you to be able to move things around too ...

Ok! Here are the photos... Shot from NE showing the Great Room frames where there will be two sets of sliding doors and then clerestory windows on top. Not built yet, but there will also be an alfresco covered deck to the East and 1.2m deck to the North. [ img ]
Shot from the South as you approach down the street. (Can't really see in this shot, but the Southern and Western walls of garage are done). [ img ]
For Dee and Jodge: Re-aligned bedroom window (aligned with the corridor now - looks better plus for cross ventilation). Part of our sarking on the Western wall is also up. [ img ]
Bed 3 with the window adjusted up (so you see less fence, but also for more flexible use under window for desk or whatever). [ img ]
Some bricking (commons which will be covered with Moroka, and Slate Grey (Austral) with darkened mortar for Ryan. (Ryan - I will post more brick pics on the Zen thread too). [ img ]
Wow!! ... I'll say it again how lucky were you to be able to move your windows so you captured the view you wanted, etc. You've got to be very happy with your builder ....

And thats only the view from the ground floor, right T? Amazing that you can capture such great views from there as well - top floor must be even more stunning.
I can't believe how it is all taking shape so quickly, your brickies are going great guns - it is looking fabulous and you must be absolutely thrilled to bits! I just might have to do a drive by soon to see for myself!

Mclaren, We are very lucky being able to make such last minute decisions, in the end it means we have a house that we love even more. In saying that with the indecisive people of the world it must be a little frustrating for the builder

Thanks Annette - yes, we are very happy that we chose Zen now instead of the other builders we were looking at. (Well, Westminster has gone now anyway. ). But that's not to say everything is perfect. Bumps with Zen too, but on balance we are really glad we made the choice.
nina - yes, that view is from downstairs. Driveby?! ha ha, I thought about doing that to you last weekend (or maybe this weekend!). Why don't we coordinate something? Sat morning or Sun after 11am good for me.

Can you tell me what Moroka is?
thanks greenfish. Moroka (aka 'bagged finish') is a textured paint over the bricks. Not as solid or clean lines like render. It is also cheaper than render and needs slightly less maintenance. Some people call it cheap-mans-render . Essentially Moroka has a more textured look (and you can see the outline of the brick shape but not colour), which is what we preferred aesthetically. Each to their own.

Hey T. . .we're cheap men too then! We did moroka on our whole house. . . actually did the job ourselves, was so easy (but painful )!
Don't think we'd do a double storey again though, we both nearly fell off the scaffolding and died!
Make sure they put the cyan blue undercoat on first T, otherwise it will all fall off (so the guy at Bristol paints told us).

Windows are looking beautiful, by the way. . . these are my favourites
Top one for obvious reasons
Middle one as that view is sooooo damn gorgeous!
Oh. . . that's not a window, it's a wee lass that loves to chop up pieces of paper with scissors! Beautiful!
Wow. . . the semi-commercial really do make a difference. My old boss suggested we use them, but we just couldn't afford them at the time. . .wow. . . maybe next time we'll build a smaller house and have beautiful windows! Good god, seeing your house T, I want to build again!!!!!

Oh I get it now (plus just went to jodge's blog and had a look at hers). I think it looks good, and if it's the cheaper option plus what you like then I say lucky you At which stage will the Moroka happen then? I'm looking forward to seeing it - although probably not half as much as you are

And you're right T, they have done a brilliant job on your common bricks as well as your face bricks. Our Moroka on the sides looks atrocious. Haven't seen the back yet but not too hopeful given they threw our bricks up.
