We have had our laundry, bathroom and ensuite fully tiled now. The front porch is tiled too. SS said painters will be in next. Then the tilers will be back to finish tiling the main dining/lounge room and entry.

Yep so our suspicions are confirmed. It's slow :(

We're building in Vincentia, the Milano . . . . there's quite a few MDJ homes going up in the area so I think they might be a little undermanned.

The previous house we built (different builder), we were at kitchen fit by this time so a little surprised by MDJ's rate of effort.

Glad to hear everyone else is moving faster though

I think they're undermanned. Some people on here started after us and are up to our stage if not ahead(painting stage)

Would really like to be finished in 3 weeks so I might have to speed things up. Hint hint MDJ

Our build started beginning of January and hopefully the gyprock will be finished ready for paint this week. Our build has gone fairly quick but I know there weren't many others in for construction start with ours. Maybe you hit a peak time and there were a number all going on the list at the same time. Hopefully you will get some good trades that help to speed things up.
I'm thankful things are where they are but regardless what stage your at you still have the " I just want it finished so I can move in" feeling and now seems slow as you don't notice as much being done once inside.
Question- how big is the in roof fan unit?
For some unknown reason our ac wasn't preinstalled before the gyprock. I hope it fits through the manhole ( once they cut it in)

Ours isn't installed yet, so either it fits through the man hole or the colourbond/tiles gets removed.

Still waiting for painting to start! Which was meant to begin on Tuesday. I'm happy to paint the house myself if it means it gets finished on time.

Come on its time to speed this up. Other people have started after us and are at the same stage if not further along

It has been 13 months since we paid our deposit and still waiting for our house to finish, our council approval took 9 weeks, then it was a slow start. I drive past our site most days and sometimes there is no one there working. If we had gone "owner builder" I'm sure we would have been living in our house already but everybody said it would be too stressful to go that way.
I'm very happy with the quality of the work so far but wish I could kick some tradie butt and get them to start our paint job which was supposed to have happened days ago.

Good news is that the painters worked on the weekend so we've caught up a bit.

They actually started on Saturday. I was surprised to see the painters on sunday. We are over the moon with the painters so far. House so far is looking great, MDJ are doing a good job. A bit frustrated with painting being delayed, but all is good again.

Great stuff MDJ. I hope the speed continues!

Our build has been a long one. Land registration took a while. Council took ages....

We started in construction in October. We had Christmas and rain delays etc....

since we have not had any type of site inspection with the ss yet i initiated one myself with him for thursday. we have had gyprock finished and i noticed the holes cut for switches / power points and downlights.
What should i be on the look out for while i have my visit?
i will take a copy of the electrical plans as i think they have messed that up but unsure what else to be obvious of and have a closer look at now to save possible problems down the track
thanks

Main thing is the power/data/switches/tv points and ceiling power supplies

Let's hope they are all in the correct places.
