Good luck Sezza - take your time and check everything.

I took a general purpose Windex and a cloth and wiped down all surfaces I wanted to make sure they are not scratched or damaged... that's when I noticed that one of the tiles on my bath hub was cracked. Originally thought it's just stained...

Are you getting an inspector?

we did think about getting an inspector, but decided not to.

i know sometimes you can be blinded by the beauty of the new house and not pick up faults.
we had a walk through last week and most things we were happy with.

Post subject:  Re: Sezza's Perth Build.. PCI in under 1 hr :)

yeh it went well this morning. signed off.

just chatted with our SS most of the time we were there. we were there for about an hr in total. (you were right Bags!!!) i guess when we are living there, we will find out if the house is as perfect as we think!!!

made it easier when we had picked things out that needed to be taken care of last week.
now just hanging for the keys.....

headed to bunnings and ABC blinds afterwards.
trying to work out what kind of blinds to get for the bedrooms.
thinking romans for our bedroom. and maybe just rollar blinds in the back bedrooms. colours?!?!?!?!?! maybe like a dark charcol colour.... but then i'm worried they might look a lil dark in the bedrooms.
whos got what????
any suggestions????
we had wooden venetians in the last house.. they are sooo bad for gathering dust.
in the main living area we had the sunscreen rollar blinds. going to go with the rollar blinds for our min living area in our new house as we really liked them.

all of our fencing has been taken care of aswell. just need to get side gate and rollar door to back of garage booked in and its all secure for our 2 hairy babies!!!!

Post subject:  Re: Sezza's Perth Build.. PCI in under 1 hr :)

good one Sezza - glad to hear that everything went well...

I'm still to organise a measure and quote for our bathroom/ensuite venetians...

We are getting the blockout curtains and sheer on top to all the bedroom on our front elevation. Same colour of course ::wink::

Still to decide what to do with the rest of the house - for the moment I have temp blinds...

Congratulations Sezza :z: :z: :z: :z:

Was waiting here by the screen for you. ::sad::

As to the blinds subject
1. Roman looks great when they are closed but when you open them it looks like a pile of fabric on the window ::dizzy:: - But that's just my opinion
2. Venetians look great but the dust ::hyst::
3. Roller blinds look great in my opinion and I did my whole house with different colors. White in main area and my bedroom - charcoal in the theater and kids rooms.

ABC blinds is a rip off. They quoted me $7900 for all the blinds. I got them at $1270 (including postage)- just DH had to install. ::lol::

I still have samples from 2 online shops- so if you want I can mail them to you Sezza.

agabob,
you dont think the charcol looks too dark in the kids rooms???? thats what i'm a little worried about. putting a dark colour in those rooms, making the massive bedrooms look a lil smaller????

far out. that is a huge savings. $7900 sounds really steep.

i got quoted $1769........ but this was only for aliminium venetions in the wet areas. and sunscreen rollers in the family and dining area.
Not bedrooms, study, theatre or activity room as at the stage wasnt sure what blinds to get for those rooms.

yeh perhaps i will get you to mail those samples to me.

So nothing major from PCI Sezza? You should have your keys in 2 weeks? And yes pay a painter!!!

ABC are cheap on the aluminium venetians, especially cos they just cut them down to perfect size for you, I'll get them in a few months for the bathrooms, that side of house cops the afternoon sun bad. I got the bamboo venetians from them, look like cedar, much nicer looking than other budget ready made blinds. I got venetians for privacy/view reasons and I think they look nice in front windows. Glad that you like roller blinds as I think I'll do them for living areas.

DO NOT get aluminum blinds where you get the sun. I had them in the old house as I thought they are cheap and look good. Biggest mistake I did. They are like a heater ::hyst:: They get so hot in the sun - it's not funny.

I love that color in my kids rooms. It actually made the room look bigger - I think because of the size of the blinds - I got one big one for the whole window and they are both over 2m. ::kiss:: And they contrast with the light paint on the walls. Overall I love the result.

I found my camera finally so I will take some pics for you. PM me your address and I will post the samples I have. ::lol::

Hi Sezza,
Have loved browsing through your posts and seeing your build. We are about to build the Banksia designer and have it flipped with an extended alfresco too so it was amazing to stumble across your journey! Your house looks great, love the colours.
If you have tips, hints or advice from your dealings with SPH we'd love to hear about it!
Enjoy your new home, looks amazing :D

Nice selections! You can tell you forked out more for those tiles, very classy. You have a great floor plan layout, what more would anyone want? When it's time to pick colours let me know and I'll be happy to give a second opinion:-)

It's sooo goos when you are able to find someone else whos built the same home.

One other major thing i thought of doing, ut it was too late was to swap the actiivity and bed 4 around so the activity then becomes like a games room leading out to the alfresco.

we havent really had any dramas with SPH along the build.
Just that we should have really gone with the display home spec in the end. Nevermind.
and this is because, due to variation changes - like going with the corian benchtop in the kitchen instead of laminate because we didnt like any of the colours we had to pick from.

are you leaving the bath as is in the ensuite or changing to a spa????

trying to get insurance quotes at the moment.
doing my head in ::hyst::
so many differant companies and policies
what they do and dont cover

is there a website where it compares them all to make life alot easier?????

like has all the companies listed and stats features and ticks them if they have it so its cleared to compare????

looks like we may be getting the keys very soon. just waiting on the bank to transfer funds.
