Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Apr 21, 2010 2:53 pm Hi everyone, I'm quite new to this but heard that this forum is very good to get ideas and opinions. I have got a proposed floorplan (still in draft) and I need your feedback what you think of it. If you could give as much feedback as you could that would be great as this is my first time building. Here is the link to my floorplans. I tried to upload the file on here but it won't let me. http://www4.snapfish.com.au/thumbnailsh ... =SALBlink/ Thank you so much. Re: Proposed floorplan. Please help 3Apr 21, 2010 4:23 pm you can right-click and press "view image" and it will display a larger version. It's an extraordinarily messy url, though! And I can only see the upstairs plan that way... snapfish seems to want you to login to view it (that's just nasty). On first view of the upstairs floor plan I would say there is a lot of wasted space in the bathroom areas, and probably some better ways of making those spaces work. They are BIG rooms, but door locations and/or general layout could be vastly improved. Your ensuite could be pure luxury and indulgence if you wanted it! As it stands it is an ensuite with a whole lot of empty space in the middle. Same with the bathroom. I understand the door location makes it hard to visualise better use of the space, but that toilet is insanely long so the door could quite easily be slipped back further to allow for more storage space or the likes. If you like three way bathrooms you have more than enough room to achieve that, if not there is still a lot you can do. Your bedroom sizes are all pretty nice. What is the room between bed3 and bed4? It looks to be storage, but not a whole lot more than if you just plugged a small cupboard attached to the end of the robes, then have the to bedroom doors leading off from that little nook instead of one from the library and the other from the family. That should be ample for a linen cupboard if that was its intent - especially given that you have another linen cupboard up near the bathroom and ample room inside the bathroom itself if you want to add another linen cupboard for towels. Is there any chance that you could upload the images to photobucket or flickr? You will need to create an account with either to use them, but they are much more forum friendly for sharing images. Re: Proposed floorplan. Please help 4Apr 21, 2010 5:01 pm ok here is one. I guess there's another image. http://img8.imageshack.us/img8/2350/88441746.jpg Re: Proposed floorplan. Please help 5Apr 21, 2010 5:23 pm Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ yep - that is the one that i was looking at. just as a first quick go at it, these are some of the changes that I would make. bedrooms opening from same location, more shelving in library, more bench space in main bathroom (room for linen if you want it). I'd also make a bigger shower and extend the bathhob to match - possibly add a step up to the bath if you don't want such a huge hob, but still want *something* in line with the bigger shower. It doesn't feel like such a void that way, and larger showers are much more luxurious. I've shortened the toilet - there's room for the door to swing in or out if you want it. Plan below: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ and personally, i'd not have the door from bed3 to the bathroom. It really changes the usability of bed 3 - less walls to be able to put furniture and such against (In the original design bed3 doesn't have any full, useful walls for furniture placement. There is either a doorway or a robe or a window against each wall. By relocating the entry door and removing the bathroom door you now have 2 useful walls). Also greatly diminishes the possibilities of how you can organise that bathroom, and much less privacy if someone forgets to lock two doors instead of one!. I'd only have something like that if I had a wheelchair bound child or some other disability preventing them from easily walking around to the bathroom entry (in which case, you probably wouldn't be having their bedroom upstairs Do you really want to accommodate the window? What is on the outside of the window? Do you want to be able to see your towels from outside? I would blank the window from… 2 9957 2 6562 Thankyou so much 😀 I've decided on White on white for doors and trims, White on white 50% on ceiling and Mt buller for walls. Fingers crossed it will look OK 😀 2 7586 |
