Hey Guys,

Thought I'd better get my a into g and get my thread going!!

Building The Contempo with Dale Alcock in Evermore Heights, Baldivis. Will be a nice estate once it's finished and plus since it was a Satterley estate I got a whole heap of bonuses: Solar panels, rainwater tank, retic, fencing, landscaping, grey water scheme and it's a Telstra velocity estate. Only bad thing is I have a 489m2 block of land, so a bit small but it will do the job I guess!

Originally I was looking at the house as an investment but ended up turning it into a house that I'm going to move into. But it was a turn key package from Dale Alcock, so everything was included down to the letter box numbers and clothesline!

[ img ]
[ img ]

Only changed I've really made to the plan have been double doors to the Home Theatre as I didn't want it to be open. Also my front is rendered and have gone for Austral Dampier which was a nice brick, not red and not white and not too in your face. But other than those 2 things the Elevation has remained the same and the plan has too.

Unfortunately for my bank account I have expensive taste and when I get my heart set on something I will get it, so got some major upgrades. Caesar stone bench tops in the Kitchen, under mounted sink, Glass splash back, down lights throughout, wood paneling on the front portico's roof (will do the rear patio later on), 900mm Blanco appliances, aluminum look kick boards in kitchen, upgraded all the tap ware to mixers and sinks and toilets have been upgraded and will install lights after the house is done as the builders range of light fittings was pretty average except for the downlights, also Roman blink in master bedroom and upgraded the blinds through the rest of the house to Venetians  I did get a bit carried away for a first house, not bad for a 20/21 year old though :P

Below are my colour selections, I never knew how hard it would be to try and get colours that work together but managed to settle with colours I'm happy with. Though I am worried the front of the house may be too light but will see how we go. Yes they are crappy photos but best I could do!

[ img ]
Some of the house colours (Colourbond Iron Stone, Austral Dampier, Colour under the red is render colour and the darker colour under that is the moldings that go around the bottom of the house as had to have 2 different materials on the front)
[ img ]
Kitchen (Caesar Stone Nougat and Laminex Smoky Sapelle)
[ img ]
Bathroom and Laundry
[ img ]
Ensuite colours

Anyway the build has been coming along nicely, slab got laid at the end of Feb and brick work has started and will be done by early next week then the roof timber up by the end of next week and roof soon after that! :z: amazing how quick everything seems to be going.........

Worse thing about the whole build is I'm 1200kms away, so can't be there to see it everyday. But every time I receive pictures or see the house it's good because so much has been done.

Anyway heres a barrage of pic's of the build so far, If you have any questions just give me a yell :D

Bahgeera, I'm lucky enough to have a mate who's been going down to Perth a few times in the last month or so and is staying 5 minutes away so it's very handy! also the SS is going to be taking some every 3 or so weeks for me. Also see on the other thread your pre start is on Tuesday! Good luck and have fun :D

oh - just reading again your upgrades and realised you went with downlights throughout - how much did they charge you for it? just curious

Thanks Lis :)

Bahgheera, for down lights it was roughly $150 a pop installed, they are smart in that way....they don't give you a break down of electrical costs! Just classed as 'Electrical'.

I know the dearest down light I got was the one on the front porch, a down light with a glass cover underneath it and that was $89 alone.

All up for added down lights (except bedroom 2,3,4), extra outdoor lighting, a heap of power points, extra lighting outlets for the kitchen (for pendants over the Island) Was $4973 which I had an allowance in the contract for $3000 anyway as the Sales Rep said to add an allowance in there otherwise most of your money from pre start goes to electrical.

The only thing they really don't have is a good lighting selection, down lights are good but everything else they suggest you go to a lighting show and install it later on or they will do it for a fee.

Hopefully that's of some help :)

Hey Karratha!

Yay - a new DA thread!! :: :: ::
I'm a bit jealous that you are going to have everything done when you get the keys - definitely sounds like the way to go... we have so much to do when we get our keys (including the driveway) that it is a bit daunting ::dizzy::

I like your colour choices and nice simple layout. Lucky you getting all those downlights... We got a few in the kitchen, but its another thing we might do later.

Our roof timber should be finished in the next couple of days - soon we'll both be at lockup and then it doesn't look like much happens at all!!

Very best wishes for your build.

::kiss::

Thanks :D

Yeah way too stressful for me!! Having to get a sparky in to install some light fittings is enough for me! :P

I just got told roof timber should is going up from today :D So sounds like we are pretty much at the exact same stage!

Thanks and same to you ::celeb::

wow Karratha - you are flying.... ::cheerleader:: - looks beautiful...

I'm still waiting for my pre-start consultant to forward info on some of the pricing provided - she said COB today - it's 3.28 and nothing yet... ::sad::

Just want to get it done so I can go to the bank - but still want to make sure I understand how they've priced these items...

Oh well - at least I will have time over the long weekend to finalise the variation. ::smile::

Hey Karratha - your build is coming along nicely! Must be great seeing it all come together. Marty probably told you that we have just signed off on pre-start, so hopefully we will be seeing some block action soon!
Marty was telling me about your big trip - sounds awesome, can't wait til we go - but we have a few more years before we go yet. Good luck with the rest of your build - it's looking great!

Hopefully you got them :) Yeah you have to double and triple check them because I know I had a few that were wrong and things were the wrong price etc.

Saved myself a bit of money by making sure things were correct.

Hey, thanks! Yeah it's a good feeling, going to fly down on Monday and have a look myself...not a cheap day trip though! Yeah managed to catch up with him last night, sounds like you guys are going to have an awesome house....would of loved a waterfall bench, they definitely make for a good Kitchen!

Will be good to follow your build, I can't believe how quick things move when it starts. It's just all the waiting at the start which seems to make it drag out!

Yeah I can't wait :z: counting down the weeks till I go. Now just to pay for it all............... :P

Hey all,

Managed to fly down to Perth on Monday to check out the progress of my house. Had a walk through and I was surprised at how big the house really does feel. Really glad I went down.

Best surprise of the day was the fact that the roof had been put on, wasn't supposed to be on till the end of this week so seems that things are moving pretty quickly.

Anyway here's a heap of pictures for you guys :)

Enjoy!

yes - I always said that DAH plans are very nice... hence me building with them ::lol::

Karratha - I can see that they've done the wiring – looks very nice and neat – I’m so envious I just feel like dropping down on the floor and throwing a tantrum - "I want my house" ::cry:: ::cry:: ::cry:: ::hyst:: ::hyst:: ::hyst::

Thanks :D Yeah it is hard but I guess every time I see photos or the actual house so much has been done so doesn't feel as slow :P. I have a mix of people taking photo's: Mates, Sales Rep, Site Supervisor and when I'm down...myself!

Thanks, I'm sure it won't be perfect but I was pretty happy with it.

At the moment start of next year, just depends when they offer us Perth based jobs.
