Well thats my rant for today, I think I feel better now. 2 weeks only with no work, wow you are lucky. We are now 14 weeks into our 28 week contract, and have had at least 7 weeks (6 in a row) where no work has happened on site. Bricks will fly up though once they actually start, the first day our brickies were on site, no bricks were laid on the house, they were just moved around the house into neat little brick towers for each individual section to make it easier for them when laying. They should get your place fully bricked within 2 weeks, weather dependant I reckon. I know that is nothing compared to some people, I was just making the point that we were told by so many people we know that have or are building that till lock up, everything flies by, and so far for us, it really hasn’t. joannapaulp Bricks will fly up though once they actually start, the first day our brickies were on site, no bricks were laid on the house, they were just moved around the house into neat little brick towers for each individual section to make it easier for them when laying. I think I am just impatient, we are so desperate for this house to be finished so we can get out of our rental Current status: Busy making the house our home Built PD Francis 29 on our 576m2 block at Reflections in Tarneit Reflections Estate Thread Our Build Thread Re: Building Wizards castle - PD Francis 29 – Where’s my bri 224Jul 03, 2010 1:11 am That's great news Wizard Hope your two weeks will come sooner than later. Our bricks took nearly 4 weeks to complete! We only had 1 brickie to work on the entire house as his apprentice fell ill most of the time. You need a lot of patience to get through this house-building caper. To be fair, the weather has been particularly difficult this winter. In 2008 when we built, it was a dry as a bone most of the time - apart from a couple of bad wind storms, we escaped any real dramas and only had 5 days claimed due to weather. Once roof and bricks are done, the weather isn't much of a problem for most trades though, so hopefully things will start to move for you. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ They have started our bricking, the photo is a bit crap, but because of the low light it was the best I could get, and due to a very hectic weekend did not get a chance to get out there again, I have instructed (very nicely) for my girlfriend to go out there and get some better photos this morning, so I will upload those either tonight or tomorrow morning. It looks like a pretty good job, messy, but it seems to all be pretty straight. The best part about it is, when we picked the Mocha brick, we specified a racked finish to the mortar (which is recommended), so when we had to change to Black Heath, the recommendation was for a rolled joint, we asked for it to be racked but was told that we may not be able to get it that way, well it’s being done with a racked joint, which really does look so much better that rolled. In our garage they did a wall in rolled (which will be behind plaster) and it looks crap, so we are so wrapped. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ No idea who he is, but he was there for quite a while and went right round the house, he seemed to be inspecting the brick work for some reason, then he got in his car (with no sign writing on it) and proceeded to write stuff down. Anyway, it was just a bit weird seeing a plane clothed person on the build site. Despite that though, the bricking is coming along well, no work done yesterday, but in 2 days they have bricked half way up all the way around the house, I’m still to closely inspect how good a job they are doing, but from what I have seen, it looks good.
