Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jul 19, 2007 3:59 pm We are in the early stages of deciding to build a new home. We have visited several display villages but as we require five bedrooms those designs are quite limited. We are considering building with Fasham Homes in the Eastern suburbs of Melbourne and were wondering if anyone on this forum has any experiences with Fasham to share with us. Any other custom builder recommendations would also be appreciated. We are feeling unsure about how to get the right design for our block and want to build with someone who has a good reputation (but not overly expensive). We are willing to spend around $500000 for a 40 sq home. Any advice would really be appreciated. Re: Anyone used Fasham Johnson Homes? 2Jul 20, 2007 2:28 pm Hi Samantha,
I'm building with Fasham although we haven't actually started yet. what are the features of your block? This may decide if your budget is sufficient for Fasham. Have you spoken to anyone there yet? Re: Anyone used Fasham Johnson Homes? 3Jul 21, 2007 4:33 pm Yes we are meeting with one of the consultants, yet to meet a designer though. He seems to think a house could be built with Fasham for that budget. The block has a slight fall, left to right and is 50ft wide by 134 ft deep. Good luck with your house. Hope all goes to plan.
Are you building a single storey or double storey? Fasham indicated that there was about a $50 000 difference between the two. Does that seem excessive to you? A friend today was saying what a good reputation Fasham has, so that was good to hear. Re: Anyone used Fasham Johnson Homes? 4Jul 21, 2007 4:48 pm I think that kind of budget is possible with Fasham too. The problem will be when it comes to inclusions, floor coverings etc. If you're like us then we've added an extra 20-25% to the overall cost with the extra things we've put in. Their standard inclusions are a little lower specced than I think a house of that quality deserves. Ours is a double storey. Sloping block (up from the road) with big views.
Their designer Brian is a very nice guy, the design we came up with together was very pleasing. If you would like any more info send me a private message via this site. Added 5Jul 22, 2007 4:38 pm Hi Samantha
Fasham was not previously listed on BB so unfortunately no reviews etc to help you. They have been added now though. Appears they are (or were) 'Fasham Johnson'. It will be great to hear how you (and those others building with them) get on.
