Hi Lis - are you going with DAH in the end?
Yup Bagheera, taking the plunge with the Santorini with a few modifications. Just WAITING for working plans to be drawn up Haven't had the time or energy to start worrying about pre-start selections just yet as we've just sold our current house and will be moving this weekend Just itching to get sale finalised so I can then focus totally on the new house!

Well at long last I am able to post something on my thread. I’m ecstatic to say that we have received our “Approved Building Licence” (thank you Shire of Kalamunda) and we have officially moved to “Construction”. Therefore it gives me great pleasure to finally be able to upload our final plan and elevations:
I thought I should probably also post our final selections:
Bricks: Austral Cervantes Render Colour: Lundy Grey @ 200% Feature Render – Front Portico: Traditional Random Limestone Render Roof: Bristile Vue Collection Clay Tiles Marseille Profile - Graphite Windows/Sliding Doors: ‘Charcoal Lustre’ Paving: Midland Stylestone Quartz ‘Midnight Sky’ with Primolino ‘Moulded Sandstone’ Border Portico/Alfresco Roof Lining: Glosswood ‘Tasmanian Oak’ Flooring: Big River Blackbutt wooden flooring Window treatments: 50mm Madrid venetian blinds ‘Gunmetal’ to all windows/sliding doors, except stacker doors Garage Door: Centurion Daintree Collection – The Franklin ‘Cedar Finish’
Kitchen: Under bench Cupboards: Polytech Hi Gloss Vinyl Wrap ‘Classic White’ Overhead Cupboards: Laminex ‘Burnished Wood’ Bench tops: 20mm Caesarstone ‘Snow’ with mitered waterfall edges Front of Island bench: Laminex ‘Burnished Wood’ 900mm Blanco under bench oven, cook top and range hood Still to decide on glass splasback (to be done after handover)
Ensuite/Bathroom 1 Cupboards: Laminex ‘Blackened Linewood’ Bench tops: 20mm Caesarstone ‘Osprey’ Basins: Caroma Liano above bench See previous post for feature tile details
Laundry: Cupboards: Laminex ‘Blackened Linewood’ Bench top: Laminex Natural Quartz Basins: Caroma Liano above bench See previous post for feature tile details
There are obviously more selection details I’ve left off – just too many to list.
So with a bit of luck, we should see some site works start to happen in the next 1-2 weeks, and weather permitting a slab in around 3 weeks. Now I’m excited!! I’m looking forward to being a lot more active on this forum.
I hope everyone is having a good week so far. Let me know what you think of our plan and selections.

Hi Ownhome
I've got everything crossed for a smooth build - with no hiccups. This is our second build so I was adament that I wanted most things in and completed.
If I had my way that would have included all the landscaping as well. But we're putting in a pool straight after handover, so unfortunately the paving under the alfresco and landscaping out the back will need to wait till after that is done. But it will be well worth it in the end.
We are going to wait a little before we paint inside. That's at the advice of my Dad who is a plasterer. But that just might drive me nuts - so we'll see.

Hi Kazzbah
Are you the house on the Corner block on Coyong Road behind where the guy with the trucking business has got his sheds? If so we have been watching your build - seems like they are really powering along quickly now. You'll be locked up before you know it.
The guy that owns the trucking business is going to demolish his house and subdivide the rest of his land as Stage 2. I think he is keeping 2 of those blocks, but I believe a builder or developer may have already purchased the rest of the blocks from him. We bought 1 of 4 blocks he released as Stage 1, he sold another 2 and retained the block closest to you for himself - that is if the real estate agent gave me the correct info.

Hi jbarry, yes that is our house, we are building with Switch homes, looked at 2 other builders before them with prices 1st came out cheapest, but we werent sold on it completely, 2nd came out $110k extra with all the changes and still didnt suite block. The block is only 9.81m long at back and this house fitted perfectly and we really liked the plan without having to do any structural changes. We have seen a land diagram showing the house across will be subdivided into blocks later but we didnt know this when we bought ours, have had it 2yrs this August it was on the market for awhile and the price had dropped by $50k and was the largest there at 604sqm even though unusual shape it is a good block we seem to like corner blocks. I need to find out how to put my plan and pictures up as im a total novice with the computer so any help would be appreciated. cheers Kazzbah61

Hi Kazzbah
Wow a neighbour (well sort of)!! I am very envious of you being so far ahead with your build compared to us. We will have to look out for you when we start our block stalking. If so I'll be sure to stop by and introduce myself.
We are really happy to see the council proceeding with the wetlands/parkland works. What a gorgeous space and a bonus for us as we had no idea that that was in the pipeline back when we bought our block. Here's hoping they keep up with the maintenance of it all once it is finished. I'm also hoping that Mosquitos won't be an issue with that area.
Hey Camyperth, what a saga you have been through with your build. It must be really disheartening to know how long this is taking. I only wish that you see some bricks taking the form of walls sooner, than later. Hopefully they are saving their best brickie for the job and it will all be worth the wait in the end.

While I was away in Sydney last week on business, hubby phoned to report that we had our first delivery to site - The Portaloo!! I asked if he'd photographed it and he said no. As I explained to him that this was a significant milestone, I very nicely asked that he go back the following day to take a picture. My family saw this as very comical. I didn't want to miss out on anything!!
I did a drive by on Saturday morning to take a look for myself - there it was so proudly standing at the front of the block.
On the way to visiting family on Saturday afternoon, as we were in the vacinity, hubby asked if I'd like to go past the block - of course I said yes (while not first admitting I had done a drive by that morning). So imagine my surprise when we pulled up to find a huge pile of dirt on the neighbours block and to find "THAT WE'D HAD A SITE SCRAPE"!!! How exciting - especially since this was not meant to happen until tomorrow. So off out we went to take more photos. I then confessed to hubby that I had in fact been past on my way to the shops that morning.
Sorry - I haven't uploaded photos - will post some progress shots once the footings etc have been done.

Great news about site scrape, I went past Thursday and there was a loo there and I think it had been scrapped then too. Before you know it you will be slabbed, there are 2 other dah homes on Hale rd past Forrestfield shops and lights they have gone along quite quickly, so fingers crossed yours might. Your plan looks great and all your colours sound fabulous. You probably saw we have a roof that was done on Friday just all the capping to go on which is such a relief with the rains due soon my ensuite is like a wading pool taking forever to dry out, will go over with a big broom and sweep it out. So congrats on your progress.

That's great news! Looking forward to seeing lots of pics
BTW, care to share the advice your Dad gave you about not painting too soon? We were planning to get the painting done before flooring goes in. Is this not a good idea?

Hi jbarry - Your post above was very very funny! I had a good laugh. (And, sadly, I think I would do exactly the same ). I've only just come across your thread (saw you on MrsRose's thread - what bad luck for MrsRose huh). I love your colour selections. Very classy. We are at external colour selections at the moment - proving difficult! - so reading other threads is helpful. Can I ask: does "window treatments" just mean the venetian blinds, or are you getting wider trims? (This is something I am also contemplating...). I look forward to watching your build. I just started my own thread a few days ago too. Cheers, T
