IF your pup had dared to even BREATH on one of my books... well... she'd be banished!!!! I'm quite fond of my books... and none of them have pictures either LOL viewtopic.php?f=31&t=22766 - my build thread! Time waits for no man. Unless that man is Chuck Norris. Re: Tim's House in WA with HBC 62Oct 06, 2009 8:50 pm Me too. Midas has never eaten a book. He ate my old couch, but that was an excuse to get a new (second hand) one. Books... oh, he would be in SO much trouble! I'm partial to the non-fiction 'personal story' ones. My friends call them the "Australian Story" genre. They think they're depressing. I think they're uplifting. I've even read whole science fantasy series, despite promising myself that I never would sink to that level. I actually *ahem* really enjoyed the majority of them! Good writing is good writing, no matter what it's about My tac-home-ter: Been in 8 months! Re: Tim's House in WA with HBC 63Oct 06, 2009 8:58 pm Gotta love a good ol' sci fi book LOL Currently re-reading harry potter and also the new dan brown at the moment. (where's Tim?? he needs to come in to his OWN thread and fill us in on his book choice!! cause... you know... then it won't look like we've taken over his thread... ) viewtopic.php?f=31&t=22766 - my build thread! Re: Tim's House in WA with HBC 65Oct 06, 2009 9:20 pm I've just read Twilight (still have the chapter from Edward's perspective to read)...and loved it Anyway, HI TIM!!!! I finally got a chance to post on your thread. I love your house, but of course I am biased....I too am building the Aussie Alfresco Games. I think you are just ahead of us in the build. We have the same concern about the size of the family room and fitting in our "little" 42inch TV I think you did a good thing by moving the kitchen back. We couldn't cause our theatre was squashed from the other side due to our narrow block. We didn't want to make Bed 4 smaller either. Oh well! We are hoping that removing the 10c walls in the living room will allow us to put the TV anywhere. Unless that man is Chuck Norris. Re: Tim's House in WA with HBC 70Oct 06, 2009 10:52 pm So many posts to try and answer!!! Um...um.. books! I read all sorts, I tend to go through phases. I enjoy a good sci fi, so long as its plausable and people/places don't have redicuilous names! Umm some good sci-fi's I'd recommend, Eve - The Empyrean Age by Tony Gonzales, The Last Wish by Andrzej Sapkowski and of course all the books by Douglas Adams if you like his humor. The "astute" (ie geeks ) out there might realise that the first two provided the inspiration or were inspired by computer games. Other books, well the Lee Childs books are great for a fast action packed read, Ken Follett's "The pillars of the earth" and its sequel "World without end" are both great, (I'd rate the pillars of the earth as one of the best books I've ever read). These two books are completley different to anything else Ken Follett ever wrote, (ie spy/war books such as Eye of the Needle). Finally for a bit of "blow your mind with information" there's Bill Bryson's "Short history of nearly everything", (Also avaliable as a audio-book). Ohh, a good "Bang Bang" book I'd recommend is Ben Eltons "The First Casualty", like the two books from Ken Follett I liked, this book is completly different to almost anything else Ben Elton wrote. And thanks Kirsada, I hope they finish your house before xmas!! ________________________________________________________________ Building with HBC Aussie Alfresco Games Re: Tim's House in WA with HBC 71Oct 06, 2009 11:17 pm You forgot to tell me what colour render you've chosen! I don't mind a good sci fi... but i have to be able to read it and understand what on earth is going on!!! There's actually a really good series... cant remember what its called, its about some world... anyway, one of the books is called Giez of the Gargoyle or something like that... I think I based the outside trim colours on the roof colour I chose... which has been changed to suit the developer....
