Hello all...
I'm new to this but have had a good read over many forum topics and think this is a fantastic help to new home builders - Cheers to all who contribute.
My question is about which exterior people would recomment for a beach house - hardiplank or colorbond? The property we will build on is around 250 meters back from the beach, and my main concern is corrosion/ rust.
I love the look of colorbond dune, and we would upgrade to some sort of screws/bolts made for corrosion zones if we chose it, but my real concern is will this still lead to rust marks? And if so, is this just an aesthetic issue, or does it have any functional outcome?
Hardiplank has the added bonus of hidden joints and no visible nails, but has a different look - which I still like, but seems less "modern".
Does anyone have advice as to longevity of colorbond vs painted Hardiplank in beach side properties - in regard to color fading, rust and any other points of interest??
Thanks!
Ang
