Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jul 02, 2009 3:46 pm Has anyone built a Metricon house and made changes to the plans? I am interested in building a Metricon house, but I want to make some changes to the layout of the master bedroom, ie, move where the walk in robe is, which means putting in a new wall and altering others, it also requires a door to be put in. Basically, what I want to know is, has anyone made changes to their Metricon plans, is it expensive? and how far are Metricon willing to go to accommodate your ideas.
Re: Making changes to ***** plans 2Jul 02, 2009 3:56 pm Are you talking about M3tricon?? I was going to go with them.... but didn't in the end. We added a powder room where there was a cupboard.... and altered a few walls, created cupboards where there was none. I found them quite accommodating with structural changes...... probably more so than a lot of the other big builders. My advice is to get a very experienced Sales Consultant that knows how to push the boundaries with head office and get things through. It ultimately comes down to who gets your job for "sales accept" at head office though as to what they will and won't do. They intially knocked back the way we wanted the powder room, but I with a bit of persistance and compromise we got it through. Good luck. I leave you to fend for yourself, figure things out yourself. With both M3tricon and PD (who I'm building with), the sales consultant sent the drawings I'd done into head office with our paperwork. Made it much easier for them to understand what I wanted rather than trying to put it all into words that can easily be misinterpreted. I leave you to fend for yourself, figure things out yourself. Re: Making changes to ***** plans 7Jul 02, 2009 9:16 pm We spoke to two M3tr1c0n sales people. The one at Wyndham Vale said no alterations under any circumstances. The one at Point Cook was willing to do quite a bit of variation on the floor plan. M3tr1c0n is pretty big and it all depends on who you get. Some people had horrible CSCs. Ours was terrific! Trying this building gig one more time. Re: Making changes to ***** plans 9Jul 03, 2009 10:32 am Hi Wizard, we are also building with M. We also had a great sales consultant who said we could do lots of things but when we got to head office our CSC was appalling and would not allow a lot of things. Just be careful as we were promised the world and then there was a harsh reality at head office. They really did my head in-I hope you get someone better than the two CSC's we had-my advice would be if you are not happy with them demand someone else and hope they are better. I went higher up on one issue (a wider feature kitchen window) which I had been told by the CSC was not possible and got it through-other things I gave up. You have to pick your battles sometimes. Yes, Im following your Lindfield build, looks amazing. 4 1723 I engaged my builder in December last year and we’ve been working on preliminary drawings for last couple of months. I got a call from the salesperson this morning… 0 794 Hi, First of all, thank you to this community for sharing your thoughts and opinions.
