Congratulations!! Not what I was expecting to see at all. That's so wonderful....now you can plan how to decorate another bedroom! Re: The Roses Fernleigh 36B - Our latest set of plans! 25Sep 21, 2009 6:30 am Our lovely neighbours across the road have informed us we now have a sign on the fence! Very exciting! Now if I could just find the outside dunny (portaloo) and new garden tap I'd feel we'd made good progress (worth a trip out for some photos) since only signing the contract last week! Good thing you have a neighbour who can let you know your progress Re: The Roses Fernleigh 36B - Our latest set of plans! 27Sep 21, 2009 5:55 pm We are surrounded by lovely neighbours - we are really looking forward to moving into the area. We've already had coffee and cake twice at the neighbours across the road, once with the "neighbours" (who also built with M@sterton) around the corner and the neighbours on either side of us are also very friendly. They have promised to keep us well informed which is wonderful as it'll save us wasted trips out there looking for progress if there hasn't been any! Hope everything will go smoothly especially with the baby inside you. Looking at your colour selection, you didn't mention anything about the light weight cladding. I was just wondering how did you choose the colour for it? Did masterton gave you a standard selections of colours for the cladding? Cheers! We did the same thing and measured the slab. How far you away from the site? We are lucky in that we are only a few kms from ours. Looking forward to the photos. R Re: The Roses - Outdoor dunnies x 2 & formwork... no pics ): 31Sep 25, 2009 9:47 pm Thanks R! We're a good 45min away from our block - we're pretty annoyed at the lack of notice given, especially after we had specifically requested to be notified when things started (we were told that we'd be notified by mail). We were only told after 5pm today that the slab will be poured Monday (DH wants to be onsite to make sure the concreters do what they're supposed to do and don't do what they're not) - bit tricky to get the Monday off work when you've already left for the weekend!! Hope you can manage it somehow. Our SS has been great in telling us when things are happening and also when they don't. It's good you have lovely neighbours to let you know what is going on since you are so far away. Just think you'll probably have the start of your frame by end of next week Our SS doesn't make contact with us either - it's usually me doing the calling (which I guess might be why) - but we are literally only a 1 minute drive away so we do multiple drive-bys!! Re: The Roses - Outdoor dunnies x 2 & formwork... no pics ): 34Sep 27, 2009 6:59 pm So after a very stressful weekend things have been resolved to our satisfaction. When we went out yesterday to look at the formwork the slab had been laid out according to the 'usual' slab not our upgraded ($3K) slab/approved engineering plans. Trying to get hold of anyone on a weekend (concrete due to be poured Monday morning!) we were a little stressed to say the least. We can definitely recommend Boral to anyone as they went above & beyond the call of duty on a Friday evening! However, late this afternoon we've been assured that the pour has been cancelled until we're happy with the slab layout (we just want it to be just like the approved plans - thank you very much!). But we are very relieved that it has been delayed - the slab is so fundamental to the house - it has to be right! Will post piccies tomorrow once DH has downloaded them from his camera. Unfortunately we have to choose our external colours prior to our colour selection appointment with masterton and since we are miles away from Sydney we want to make sure that there is no reason for them to delay the submission of drawing plans to council and to avoid any price increase in the future. It's good you have managed to check the formwork layout prior to slab pouring otherwise they might get away with it. So I'll keep an eye on these guys and we're only 5 minutes bike ride to the building site when I get back. What's the 3K upgrade ? Is it still an M class? Why do you need the upgrade If you don't mind me asking? We weren't offered the upgrade. What's the 3K upgrade ? Is it still an M class? Why do you need the upgrade If you don't mind me asking? We weren't offered the upgrade. Hi EmoH, They got the slab wrong as they just built it the way they always build it - I don't think they bothered looking at the 'detail' of the slab. The waffle pods arrived and they just used their standard spacers in between. The external dimensions of the slab were fine - it was the internal detail that wasn't. We asked to upgrade the slab it wasn't really an offered upgrade. We wanted our waffle pods to be square rather than rectangular and slightly wider concrete ribs for internal and external beams. The soil in our area is probably closer to a H class slab rather than M class even though our soil classification report came back as M. As we're building a 2 storey we wanted to be cautious. The pods and reinforcement were all relaid yesterday (not very happy tradies) and reinspected (not very happy certifier) and the pour is rescheduled for tomorrow! You signed your contract a week or so after me and now you are at the same stage if not ahead if they didn't make that mistake. We are at the concrete pouring stage now too. Probably today. I suppose they want that 20% payment for the concrete really quickly . BTW what facade are you building?
