Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jun 26, 2023 3:16 pm I am currently in the process of building a new house, and as of now, the roof and external walls have been completed by the builder. In the original design created by the architect, two feature bands were included in the facade, but we didn't pay much attention to them at the time. Additionally, we planned to add window moldings later due to budget constraints. Now, I have a new vision for my facade. I would like to have a single line instead of the two feature bands, and I also want to incorporate an architectural molding under my eaves, which have a measurement of 450mm. My goal is to achieve a French provincial look for the facade. I have a few questions regarding these changes. Firstly, is it possible to install an architectural molding under the 450mm eaves? I am unsure if this is feasible and would appreciate any insights or advice from those who have experience with similar projects. Secondly, I would like to know how others have approached their facade moldings. Has anyone worked with a separate company after the house was handed over to the builder to accomplish this? I ask because my builder hasn't done this type of work before and hasn't provided any details on how it can be done. Thank you all in advance for taking the time to read and respond to my inquiry. Your expertise and guidance will be highly valued. In all reality to get the look you wanted exactly your windows don't have enough distance above to the eave. A compromise would have to be made. Probably cost $150-200 a metre for a two step. You could install later. Not that hard. Would be easier to do now with the scaffold up. Re: Facade Parapet Moulding 6Jun 30, 2023 4:45 pm Shoutout to Pulse and Ardo for their invaluable input in the home building forum! Thanks to their advice, I managed to connect with a moulding supplier and even found a third-party carpenter for installation. My builder's lack of guidance was no match for the community's support. You guys rock! 🙌 Re: Facade Parapet Moulding 8Jul 04, 2023 9:22 am Ardo A carpenter with experience could fabricate that Moulding using LOSP. I always thought this must be difficult to install since builders charge so much for that style facade, but after googling it seems it's readily available at reasonable price. Why do builders charge so much for facade mouldings? Are they using something another material? Re: Facade Parapet Moulding 10Jul 05, 2023 10:18 am orionnebula Labour cost to install. Seems it's a chippy who can install. I'm building with Clarendon, they have a facade called the Riviera, which isn't overly decorative, but costs around $55k (not fully rendered front). Looking at material costs plus chippy labour, seems hard to believe anything near that is justifiable. Re: Facade Parapet Moulding 11Jul 05, 2023 11:01 am AJ1111 orionnebula Labour cost to install. I've seen one with a light-colored bricks and just a bit of molding (in my neighborhood). It's definitely overpriced.
