Browse Forums Building A New House Re: New house build - Passive House 41Jul 08, 2023 9:02 am I too have built to passivhaus standards and use the zehnder system to ventilate my home. I’m in Melbourne and can confirm that the Hrv core only conserves the energy put into the air and not the humidity. An ERV core on the other hand does both. It exchanges the water vapour through the core. If the incoming air has a higher relative humidity eg on a humid day than the air being expelled from the home, the ERV core will allow some of the humidity to transfer to the out going air and thereby reducing the relative humidity of the air coming into the house.and preventing unwanted humidity entering the house. A HRV core does not do this and only allows the transfer of temp between the two air streams. The good thing about the zehnder system is you can purchase both cores and swap them to suit the conditions. On very dry or humid days use the ERV core and use the HRV core for the rest as iit has an higher efficiency. 0 5009 Thank you so much everyone. This all makes a lot of sense. I guess when you talk to a builder who butters up everything to look very polished, you get to start believing… 7 17843 |
