Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Oct 08, 2022 4:58 pm Hi All, Our brickwork was completed on the 12/08/22 and timber should be in next week with another 2 weeks after that for trades to start. I asked about the Colorbond steel and was told that there is a considerable delay however they can not confirm shipment until the construction of the timber has been completed. I was speaking to someone using the same builder and their Colorbond Steel hasn't arrived for over 2 months after the timber had been put up. What are others experience in this roofing stage as of late for comparison? Anyone have any information on the Colorbond shortage to share? Cheers Re: Comparing roofing delays. 2Oct 18, 2022 12:19 am Honestly it seems as it depends who you build with, any BGC companies you'll be waiting a long time. I'm with Blueprint had the below time line - 02 March - Slab down 13 May - Bricks arrived 15 July - Bricks finished (one man show but he did an amazing job!) 01 Aug - Timber delivered 26 Aug - Timber finished 05 Sep - Electrician & eaves installed 08 Sep - Colorbond arrived 09 Sep - Gutters installed 27 Sep - Colorbond installed Currently waiting on plaster float to start. Re: Comparing roofing delays. 3Oct 18, 2022 1:17 am Thanks Echo. Your build times look very organised, pretty impressed. Luckily we're not with BGC, some horror stories I've been hearing there. We're with Dale Alcock and currently building 2 homes side by side. So far our timeline - 28 April - Slab down (Had a few delays here due to people with covid) 03 June - Bricks arrived 08 Sept - Brick work finished (2 guys, did a good job also) 06 Oct - Timber for home 1 arrived, 13 Oct home 2 timber arrived. We now are waiting for trades which could take a few weeks. Re: Comparing roofing delays. 4Oct 18, 2022 7:24 pm Also building at a similar stage, SOR. 21 April - Slab down ~11 July - bricks arrive (delay to due brick availability) ~22 August - brickwork finished (delay due to lots of bad weather) Expecting timber within next 2 weeks. Told probable delay in colourbond installation and rest should be ok... but we will see. Feel we are middle of the pack in surrounding builds. The Endeavour homes, BGC ones going slower, ross north and dales going faster. Re: Comparing roofing delays. 5Oct 19, 2022 10:01 am I am with Homestart (BGC), slab down 18 Oct 21, Plate Height reached 05 Oct 22 (yes you read that correctly... one year to reach plate height since slab) timber arrived 10 Oct 22. I changed from tiles to Colourbond due to the massive wait time for tiles (9 months!), so hopefully will have roof on before Xmas... we'll see... We now are waiting for trades which could take a few weeks. Our neighbours at the house we're in at the moment built with DA and they smashed it out! The house just flew up, so fingers crossed it flies for you now too! We have 3 others in the street (2 blocks, 2 houses knocked down & sub divided at the same time) getting built also and they started in May 2021 and don't even have roof cover, 2 have their timbers up, the other which is a two story home is just sitting idle. I really do feel for the new owners One of the houses timbers look awful, they were sitting in the dirt and weeds for so long.
