(it didn't hold up well in choice testing so I'm hesitant) Re: Sloping/Narrow Melb build. Slab prep underway 83May 12, 2017 9:16 pm Noble grey is a nice choice. We are having Calacatta Nuvo below. Took me ages to decide and a few trips to the Caesarstone showroom! Very important to view larger slab and in natural light if possible. The wife wanted darker lines in it, I suspect we will need to visit the showroom a few more times as you suggested. Re: Sloping/Narrow Melb build. Take any other samples you have with you (tiles, laminate, flooring etc) and ask consultant if you can take a a stone sample outside to compare. They have bigger samples there than the small mail out ones which you can look at and buy for $5. Slab prep underway 87May 12, 2017 10:08 pm PVBuild Has your builder given you a timeframe for slab? Hopefully not too far away - waiting is the worst bit. Hopefully a couple of weeks. It's a complicated slab with 4 floor levels and rain/slope isn't helping. Will keep you posted. Am going for a drive tomorrow to organise all my home theatre toys to get my mind off of it Re: Sloping/Narrow Melb build. Re: Sloping/Narrow Melb build. Slab prep underway 95May 13, 2017 8:08 pm Yes. Stiffened Raft slab I think is what they call it. Mine is tricky I think there is about 4 different levels to pour. Re: Sloping/Narrow Melb build. Slab prep underway 96May 13, 2017 8:50 pm Christoshizz sinbox Which models do you have in mind? Looking at the Sony and Epson models. I'm interested in the Epson 8300/9300w...will keep an eye out for sales or refreshed models and will pick one up closer to or after we settle in the new home...will slowly have to upgrade the rest of my components too. I really like that you were able to get a a rectangular theatre room...mine looks more square. What is the size of your room and what screen size are you planning? Re: Sloping/Narrow Melb build. I'm also looking at the 9300 It seems really good but I'm not convinced on the fake upscaled 4k for the price difference jump from the SONY model. It's about 500-800 in price difference. On the plus side the Epson globes are cheaper. Still on the fence. I want to get the rough in sorted so it works out cheaper to buy a package with everything including rough in etc. Models won't change over the next 6-9 months and if they do I'll get upgraded to whatevers new. My room is 6.5m long and 3.8 wide. I'm getting 130inch 16:9 screen. This will leave me about 40cm on each side to have floorstanding speakers. Re: Sloping/Narrow Melb build. Agree, get that sorted now. It looks like your builder is comfortable with external trades on site? You may want to wire in for future upgrades if you want..the sky is the limit here, but I have my theatre pre-wired for 7.4.2. I also spent money on sound insulation for the theatre walls and ceiling. I need to try my luck with the building supervisor to see if they can use a double plaster wall with green glue in b/w, as Porter Davis would not allow for it. Mate...you have a great sized room! If I had such dimensions, I would be looking at an Acoustically transparent CinemaScope screen 130-140" and have the speakers placed behind the screen for best effect. It looks like the size of a 140" CS screen is about 3416 X 1528 from projectorscreens: https://www.projectorscreens.com.au/ind ... duct_id=35 Re: Sloping/Narrow Melb build. Slab prep underway 99May 13, 2017 10:07 pm Thanks mate!! I looked into AT screens but I'm on a tight budget and to be honest have no interest in a cinema scope format screen. Most of the content we watch is 16:9 so it makes sense for us. I'm shooting for a 5.4.1 setup. Who did your rough in? We have standard insulation in walls and cinema roof specified, when we get closer I might ask the Builder about using the special insulation.... I'm not too fussed though if the neighbours have to listen to my doof doof when watching Under Siege lol Soak wells and electrical run in happening this week! Summit has told me they will relocate the laundry plumbing after the walls are completed. I'm actually pretty happy… 13 36876 Thanks again for this information. If you do hear anything different, would be great to know 4 8964 dimensions on your original plan are inconsistent and with accurate dimensions (including site plan, upstairs and down) i could make a proper scale drawing with furniture… 3 8020 |
