It's so nice! what have you chosen? I'm trying to decide whether to go with these atm, I had my heart set on them in the 600x600, but I found out today if you go smaller than 800x800 the print is condensed (so they look a lot darker) I assumed they just cut different size tiles, I had no idea they zoomed in on the print. 800 through the whole house is just starting to push the budget a bit

Prestart done today, fingers crossed costings come back ok. We couldn't get any today as they didn't have the tile costs & we need a quote on extra cabinetry & benchtops. All finished by 2.30 which I I was pretty pleased with

Only little gripe is the things they openly have on display that we wanted, that aren't regulation so even though they have them, they're not allowed to put them in actual homes

Congrats on your pre start, how exciting.
How crazy though that they have displayed items on display that you cant have ::dizzy::

Wonder if this is standard practice with other builders as well?

Think I remember Mon from another HGWA thread said that they couldn't have a certain bathroom tile from one of the displays in their pre start choices. Can't remember if that was resolved or not. Seems crazy, and unfair!

The movable taps above the freestanding bath & they wouldn't install a bayonet above it either, so we could put a pendant in later (they had a huge chandelier above the display?) . I don't mind if we can't have something but it's annoying being told no while your standing staring at what they're telling you you can't have lol. They also don't have any other stone providers, so if we use another one we have to pay a $500 admin fee. But we have to use their preferred supplier, not the one we want? I'd assume that paying an admin fee that high would mean they didn't have an account with them, so i didn't think it would matter?

We were told that we had to have the tiles cut like this Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ because of the water drainage, yet they display them like this Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Our SS said we couldn't have them like they displayed, and told the tiler to do the multi cuts. Luckily we caught up with the tiler, and he agreed to do it the cleaner looking way, as it is easier, and they can still get the drainage fall.

We thankfully managed to get the large tile sizes and a few other things. We basically told them if it's in their display home we should be allowed to have it. Then we were allowed to change quite a few things. Just be quite forceful and confident in what you want and show them you're willing to put up a fight. Good luck!

Instead of a bayonet, ask for a junction box to be put in. so at a later date, a sparky can come in and put low voltage lighting above the bath.

As much as I like HGWA this was one of the main reasons we didn't go with them. We asked sales guy and he assured us all that things can be changed, but he wouldn't give in writing or include in contract.

Strange Ways of doing things.

We are going with 600x600, actually we were looking at 450x900 laying cost was a killer and yes pattern does condense.

I didn't have q stone, I'm trying to remember who did! It's not coming to me! Make sure you check your plans for window heights and if your toilet windows are the same (they've installed a **** ventilated window in our ensuite so now we have to replace it ourselves!) and things like door handles, tile drains, alfresco upgrades. There's a thread on things that people forget etc- I'd have a quick read and you can always email them on Monday.
