Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Fairhaven Homes Newport 361 in Sth East Melbourne 61Jul 20, 2016 8:04 pm Great news! Hopefully they get onto your tender ASAP. Re: Fairhaven Homes Newport 361 in Sth East Melbourne 62Jul 21, 2016 3:39 pm So I went in to sales lady who we dealt with at clarinda park estate (who randomly worked on our house with Henley when we built with them) and asked her who to contact to complain about our CRO. That was at 1pm and by 3pm had been swapped over to the team leader who has arranged for us to sit down and go through the plans so we can get everything sorted and ready for settlement next month! Looks like we may actually start building soon Re: Fairhaven Homes Newport 361 in Sth East Melbourne 64Aug 04, 2016 7:32 pm It looks like a nice flat block Kat, what size is it?. Our build thread viewtopic.php?f=31&t=82369&p=1525857&hilit=fairhaven#p1525857 Re: Fairhaven Homes Newport 361 in Sth East Melbourne 65Aug 04, 2016 7:44 pm It's 14x30 so a 420 block. Not big at all but the design is good and will give us a better backyard than our last build! The land looks flat but we've got 1.3m fall from top left to bottom right (most in the first few metres) but I'm very nervous about site costs. Re: Fairhaven Homes Newport 361 in Sth East Melbourne 66Aug 04, 2016 8:05 pm How much have you budgeted for site costs? Our build thread viewtopic.php?f=31&t=82369&p=1525857&hilit=fairhaven#p1525857 Re: Fairhaven Homes Newport 361 in Sth East Melbourne 67Aug 04, 2016 8:17 pm The sales lady said she'd guess about 13k so I've allocated 20! Really hoping it's not more than 15. It's the fall across the building envelope that matters so hoping that bit through the middle isn't too bad Re: Fairhaven Homes Newport 361 in Sth East Melbourne 68Aug 04, 2016 8:27 pm The type of soil will also factor in to the equation of slab costs. Our build thread viewtopic.php?f=31&t=82369&p=1525857&hilit=fairhaven#p1525857 Re: Fairhaven Homes Newport 361 in Sth East Melbourne 70Aug 07, 2016 8:11 pm Site costs are my biggest fear, I had the option of fixing mine but Fairhaven's were $5000-$9000 more than what I was quoted by Carlilse, Porter Davis and Henley, so I have decided to wait for soil testing. I spoke to one of my new neighbors who lives about 100m away who has just built a similar size house on a similar block, he paid $10000 less than what Fairhaven quoted. I'm hoping that I can save at least $5000 which will give me more to spend on color selections/upgrades. Hopefully my gamble pays off. Re: Fairhaven Homes Newport 361 in Sth East Melbourne 71Aug 07, 2016 9:58 pm Yeah fairhaven definitely don't make it attractive to fix the costs. However I have heard their costs are pretty reasonable once soil testing is done so I have everything crossed its going to work out Re: Fairhaven Homes Newport 361 in Sth East Melbourne 72Aug 12, 2016 1:45 pm Soil and survey has been ordered so should know soon how much we're up for. Stressing a little but we'll have an answer soon which is a relief! Got our plans back too and only 27 errors Hahahaha! I guess that's what you get when you make so many changes to standard. At least they're done and we can get it all rectified before tender. Finally feels like we're moving forward and getting stuff done Fairhaven Homes Newport 361 in Sth East Melbourne 73Aug 12, 2016 5:02 pm Good luck with site costs, I knowexactly how you feel, I have my fingers crossed for you.
