Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ I signed my contracts more than a year ago.. And I was guaranteed fast track.. Which means they've to build our house within 22 weeks! I've hired a building inspector recommended by Avenger! Thanks Avenger Dunno how many times we've gone carpet window shopping But I've finally found one for a great price (I think)! And great colour too! Dark Grey almost Black, Solution Dyed Nylon! Unfortunately I forgot to take a picture but you'll see it when I've installed haha! Hubby's happy that he doesnt have to follow carpet shopping anymore! Negative for this week though, somebody stole our water meter , minor thing but we still have to pay for it as its not covered by the builders insurance.. Hubby researched as to why people steal this, and no.1 reason is for the copper and to use it to steal others water meter! , I just hope it doesn't happen again! These are just pictures of how over the moon we are about how our slab is down haha! Hubby's star jump! And how Stars jump P.S I finally know how to use photobucket! I think its better and I'll be using this from now on ahaha! Hope the images dont appear too big though! What is the building inspection contact? I might use one as well.. Hey how long did it take for you to go from drafting to getting everything approved? Re: IssyandOzzy's New Generation Build - Deliveries:)Theft:( 78Apr 20, 2015 11:42 pm tsmith oh thats terrible about the theft hey. What is the building inspection contact? I might use one as well.. Hey how long did it take for you to go from drafting to getting everything approved? Yes it is! I just hope it doesn't happen again.. It's $200-300 just to replace it! Imagine if it happened a lot! His name is Mike from prospec home inspection.. We haven't done any staged inspection yet but I'll let you know how things go.. We just would have no clue about building so that's why we've hired one, plus build process (paperwork and things) hasn't been so smooth but I'm not gonna say anything more lols..little bumps here and there.. Final plans? Do you mean.. final plans to getting things approved was a nightmare.. I would say it took a good 2 months to get things going.. And if I didn't grumble a bit I think it would've taken more.. When you build in the City of Armadale you require MRA approvals and that took a good 2 weeks..settlement took forever..almost 6 weeks! And when I found out on the 6th week you could fast track settlement I kinda snapped.. Glad that's all over and done with though cos we've waited a long time to get to this bit here.. Check my timelines tsmith.. Not much happening this week. We just noticed that the soakwells were gone and that there was a huge pile of dirt infront of where our entry should be. Soakwells gone + Huge pile of dirt = Soakwells installed! Am i right? LOL! This is a picture on Wednesday night when I checked straight after work.. (Only 7 minutes away!) We also met the neighbours that were building from the back of us, so exciting! Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ And this was on Friday late afternoon.. Dunno why there's poles.. does anybody know why? Oh and they moved the window frames to the back of the house.. Also dunno why? My best bet is that it was in the way when they wanted to install the wells and just wanted to move it out of the way to make it easier Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ REGRETS! Also to people that havent sign their final plans! I'm having major regrets to my floorplan for not going for certain things.. 3 things that I regret not upgrading now is.. 1. Widening our ensuite shower to make it a double.. I dunno why but after looking at the slab its really affected me why didnt I choose to make it a double shower?!?! One sink I can live with.. Double shower.. We will see.. Lols! I'm sure it'll be fine its our first house.. Its too late to change it now cos they've put a slab on.. 2. Powerpoints! I thought I covered all the powerpoints in the house but I forgot about our island bench! I wish we put one in the corner of our bench where the waterfall ends could cover it! but somehow I miss that! Luckily I've got my microwave powerpoint but I'd have to use an extention plug If I ever wanted to use electricals on the island! How inconvenient is that! This I'm sure its not too bad. LOL! 3. Exterior doors! Oh my goodness, I'm looking at other people's builds and I'm really regretting not to upgrade our standard door to the doors that we wanted.. Yes the price made me change my mind but to change it now, its more than the actual door now due to variation changes fee! This though, you can fix after build! Pretty sure though after I see it with my own eyes, its not gonna matter as much! I hope this doesn't make me sound unappreciative and naggy..I'm very grateful to have had this chance to build, but these are things that I would do if I could go back. I just really wanted to share this so that other people who are second guessing their choices don't make the same mistakes I did. These are more of a first world problem LOL and my OCD taking the best of me I think I was more focused on the price and what we could afford, more than what was going to make me feel the happiest. So in conclusion, get that double shower ensuite, make sure you got powerpoints all where you want and get those expensive exterior doors now before signing of the final plans cos that variation fee per change will make you feel miserable!
