Browse Forums Building A New House Re: New Living Homes 61Aug 11, 2014 8:25 pm @1sttimebuilding2012 - for your investment, did your package come with or did you request for raised ceiling? Just seems more people are asking for this than not, these days. And with the turf, what variety did you from NLH? Built Wentworth 33 with Clarendon Homes Re: New Living Homes 62Aug 11, 2014 8:33 pm My ceilings are just standard. Its also reassuring no major problems were identified with your independent inspection, thanks for sharing your build experience. Built Wentworth 33 with Clarendon Homes Re: New Living Homes 65Aug 18, 2014 2:33 pm We are building the Azalea 4.3 in Jordan Springs. Very early on in the process (our land isn't expected to register until November) Interested if anyone else is Building with New Living Homes in Jordan Springs Re: New Living Homes 66Aug 19, 2014 2:46 pm Welcome @JordanSpringsNovice and congrats on your choice with Azalea 4.3. We're also early on in the process but will be building in Greenway at Marsden Park - land isn't expected to register until May 2015 in our case. Is yours a house and land package, also? Have you made any changes to your home design? Built Wentworth 33 with Clarendon Homes Re: New Living Homes 67Aug 19, 2014 3:55 pm Yes ours is a house and land package. We did a few basic upgrades but didn't change the design. It looks like a very convenient spot there at greenway. Especially when the IKEA/Costco and other shops are finished just across from there Re: New Living Homes 68Aug 19, 2014 4:03 pm @JordanSpringsNovice - agree, proximity to Ikea/Costco will be very handy - also the NorthWest Rail Link will be extended through to the Sydney Business Park in Marsden Park, is a bonus. I've been to Jordan Springs more than a few times and it's certainly growing! Did you upgrade your ceiling height? Likewise, we don't plan to make any major structural changes - hope to add a cavity sliding door to Bed 1 WIR and to Theatre; and move Bed 4 window from side to rear wall so Bed 4 has a view of the backyard rather than a fence. Did you know they are building an Azalea display home in Willowdale (should be ready before the end of the year)? Update: Azalea 4.3 display home should be ready during October, this year. Built Wentworth 33 with Clarendon Homes Re: New Living Homes 70Aug 20, 2014 4:21 pm @dotgif We decided to leave the ceiling as it was. The display homes at Spring Farm had the standard ceiling height and we were happy with that. I did hear that they were building an Azalea at Willowdale (A Azalea 4.2 I think). Will have to check it out Re: New Living Homes 71Aug 20, 2014 4:52 pm @JordanSpringsNovice - we have just returned from their office at Spring Farm, signed the building contract - no turning back now! Does your package also include turf? Like with @1sttimebuilding2012, ours come with Kikuyu turf. I'm not a great fan of this type of turf, it's weed-like and very invasive. Our old neighbour had Kikuyu and it ran rampant across, through and under our buffalo front lawn But yes, will be very exciting to check out the Azalea display home once it's ready (should be in October). Are you aware the Butler Pantry comes with open overhead shelving, that is adjustable and there's more storage underneath the benchtop with doors? This was a nice surprise - we thought it was just a couple of rows of overhead melamine shelving only. FYI: in the standard inclusions brochure, it states the tiling to the shower is up to 2.0m ... this should be 2.1m, like how it is at their display homes at Spring Farm. Built Wentworth 33 with Clarendon Homes Re: New Living Homes 72Aug 20, 2014 8:52 pm Hi 1sttimebuilding2012 just wondering how everything went with the completion of your house? Did you get the keys? Were the minor issues fixed? Are you happy? We have now signed our contracts and are waiting on estate approval before we lodge to council. Re: New Living Homes 73Aug 21, 2014 8:32 am @dotgif No our package doesn't include turf. I am happy to save a bit of money and do the turf myself. That's good news about the butlers pantry. It was one of the things that attracted us to the design. You can never have enough storage in my opinion Re: New Living Homes 74Aug 21, 2014 9:27 am dotgif, i didnt realise that the Azalea came with a butlers pantry, thats great news for you guys! I am having a WIP but its just has the melamine shelves. And im very happy to hear about the tiling, i regret not getting full height tiling in the bathroom, oh well... Is NLH doing your lighting or curtains? Re: New Living Homes 75Aug 21, 2014 10:22 am @JordanSpringsNovice - totally agree with you there on the storage. I've been provided with a drawing of the Butlers Pantry, PM me your email and I can send you a copy if you would like to take a look. @Keks - not all Azalea designs come with the Butlers Pantry unfortunately, e.g. 4, 4.1 & 4.2 do not come with this. I've only seen it on the 4.3 and 5 designs. The quote I got for full height tiling to shower area only was $250 for each Bathroom and Ensuite. We decided not to go ahead with this, as 2.1m is sufficient. FYI - to get full height tiling to the whole Bathroom is $1,145 and whole Ensuite is $1,090, for standard height ceiling. Built Wentworth 33 with Clarendon Homes Re: New Living Homes 76Aug 21, 2014 10:39 am Thanks for your quick repsonse. $250 isnt bad i regret not getting it aleast around shower, as my husband is 6,5 it would of been good. I just googled the Azalea 4.3 and its a very clever design, i cant believe i had never seen it before. Were building the Cameilia 4 but with a 2m side extension and have changed our kitchen exactly the way it is in the Azalea. Do your H&L packages include blinds? Were having NLH do our blinds and i was just wondering about the colour selection and quality? Re: New Living Homes 77Aug 21, 2014 11:07 am @Keks - blinds & lighting (except for the 3-in-1 fan/heater/light in Bathroom and Ensuite) are not included in our package. We plan to ask the builder's electrician to install light battens where future downlights will be ... and have downlights installed after handover. Wow, very tall - I can understand why you had wanted to extend tiling to ceiling height - I take it you had your ceiling height increased to 2600mm or more? Built Wentworth 33 with Clarendon Homes Re: New Living Homes 78Aug 21, 2014 7:46 pm Lol yes we have increased it to 2.7m!!! And our roof pitch to 25 degrees! Lol. Our lighting was included but we took it out and instead we'll supply our own lights and have their electrician install it for us. We wanted fans in the bedroom instead of down lights. When do are you guys hoping to start your build? Re: New Living Homes 79Aug 21, 2014 9:11 pm @Keks - wow, downlights are included in your package? That's amazing! I guess that was a silly question on my behalf in regards to raised ceilings LOL Do you think you'll be credited for not going with some or all the downlights - it means less wiring etc will be involved if you supplied your own lights? Our build won't start until mid-next year as the land is expected to be registered in May 2015 only. How about yourselves? Built Wentworth 33 with Clarendon Homes Re: New Living Homes 80Aug 21, 2014 9:16 pm We had a full credit for our lighting and we will deal directly with NLH electrician to install our lights. Were waiting for our estate to approve our plans then off to CDC. I'm hoping we will begin construction end of September or early October. May must feel like ages away but trust me it will fly!!!
