Hi all, I was walking around the display homes, particularly the Whittaker and Henderson, at Kellyville the other day and noticed that all the bathroom/laundry areas are raised by about an inch from the main area. I was just wondering if there was a technical reason for doing this ? I can imagine kids and visitors tripping over the slight step-up every time they go to the bathroom..haha

I hate the step up, so I am getting carpet ramps. Basically the put a small edge under the carpet to raise it so it ramps the carpet up and hides the step up. It was really cheap think it is $24 per door way.

I wonder if our new roof has coped with all this rain?! We were told it was Aussie building code to have the step

Looks like some of the freshly laid render has washed away in the heavy rain

Patch up needed next week.

Yep, surprised it's so fragile though. I guess the weather shield paint on top makes it impervious to water. Even the Hebel is wet on the inside.

Yeah until the final membrane with the acrylic paint goes on the hebel is not water proof.

Great news, despite the weekend's terrible weather tradies are back onsite doing the alarm, telephone and speaker wiring and data points.
Vacarro are also willing to accept a couple of additional items, invoiced directly to me, which is great customer service.

For those considering in-ceiling speakers, if like us you intend on having individual stereo speakers instead of two speakers in stereo pairs, make sure you ask for four core speaker wiring. Vacarro use two core as standard and didn't pick up on the speakers being in singles not doubles.

Just let them know before the install Orph, they're running around this morning trying to price up quad core speaker cable before I fly out to work this afternoon. Not sure whether they have a limit on how many changes they can accept? Obviously M usually get a cut but don't think that applies if they invoice directly. I have spent $25k with them already, so a couple more items aren't worth them squabbling over.

So we talked to M and it can be done. What they do is rebate the slabs in your wet areas (for extra cost of course). The reason why M is hesitant to do this is because it adds to the customisation work they need to do. The rebating depends on the thickness of your tiles and as you don't get to choose tiles until your Studio M appointment later on, it is a hassle for them to go and then draw in the slab rebate into the plans before final sign-off. The way M currently does it is easier for them as the thickness of the tile just adds to the step-up. The costs may be prohibitive but we would ideally like to rebate the slab downstairs and use the carpet ramps that Neville suggested for the upstairs.

That sucks I specifically asked for that in the laundry. They wouldn't even have to rebate as it could be all the same level on the ground floor. I really hate how you get different answers depending on who you ask. I can see me kicking my toes each day.

I agree and especially the thickness of the tiles and the screeding (for the floor waste) makes it harder. If only this option was conveyed to us before our plans were drawn up.

Nev, our laundry is the same height as our main floors. Is yours not?

Is four core speaker wire really that expensive! What did they think we'd do with our single speakers, just listen to the left channel?!

I think I'm just gonna ask them to run extra light points for $55 ea.

other work seems expensive.

How can I tell? All conversions I had about the wet areas being slightly higher and trying to avoid it. All the displays have it a step up and I was asking if they could ramp the tiles instead, but they kept saying no.

Our laundry adjourn our pantry and main floors hence tiling is the same height but I agree the bathrooms are a step up as standard through M.

Meet SM for the first time today. Plan is to scrape and level this week, piering next week. Then handover to pool company to install pool.
