Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Building in Aston Craigieburn 521Nov 17, 2013 10:53 am EmptySpace, you better check with Peet, they would know exact status. It take some times few weeks before service providers will have uptodate information from NBN. NBN website is in bit trouble since new govt took over control. Re: Building in Aston Craigieburn 523Nov 17, 2013 6:35 pm Thanks AB! We are so happy. Yeah we have been in since Friday. Pretty much unpacked now. We still have a lot to do though! Blinds fences internet bedroom furniture landscaping! I tried explaining that to the guy but he just drove me mental!! I will try again. This was dodo. I am a little put off with them now though. But the price was quite reasonable. Re: Building in Aston Craigieburn 524Nov 17, 2013 7:13 pm Hey that's awesome ES... don't get too stressed we've been there two weeks and are only "just" starting to get settled now. It gets easier every day. Sounds like dodo are living up to their name. We went with iiNET and they were quite reasonable. Call centre couldn't find us initially but after some checking sorted it out. Just make it clear that you know people in the same stage release who have it connected and they should be fine. Also point out the rollout map that NBNco have posted. We'll catch up very soon ! Re: Building in Aston Craigieburn 525Nov 23, 2013 8:47 pm Ok you lot that have moved in I think it's about time you share some moved in photos! Re: Building in Aston Craigieburn 526Nov 26, 2013 7:23 pm We had cabinetry installed today! I don't like what we chose, hopefully when benches and painting done will look nicer! Re: Building in Aston Craigieburn 528Nov 27, 2013 9:22 am Hey Sam, I'm sure what you have chosen will be great. I had my moments of self doubt along the way but it all turned out good in the end. Fencing.. is doing my head in! Have got a couple of quotes but my neighbours wanted more which is fine but I am having trouble getting someone to call me back let alone coming out to quote! If anyone knows a good fencer please let me know Re: Building in Aston Craigieburn 529Nov 27, 2013 9:59 am Sorry Sam... been snowed under with work and answering the phone for lost couriers or doorbell or just waiting for tradies that don't show up. Fencing would have to be the absolute worst part of the whole experience. We had one come over like the prophet of doom and then walk away telling us he can't start until February !! It's a bit difficult where we are because the lots behind us are in stage 10 and haven't titled yet. Agree with Tracey though. These guys musn't be short of work. They have a standard spiel. Text me your name and details. Then they don't get back to you. Re: Building in Aston Craigieburn 530Nov 27, 2013 1:43 pm Same problem with us! We have struggled to get quotes. I had one guy make me wait for two nights in a row and cancel 20mins before the time saying he can't come because he can't find the house!!! We have just received another quote and if our neighbors agree we will be going with him. We should start a fencing company!! Re: Building in Aston Craigieburn 531Nov 27, 2013 1:54 pm Emptyspace We have just received another quote and if our neighbors agree we will be going with him. We should start a fencing company!! I think I know who that is too ES. Said contractor told me he had another appointment in Saint Rd. Re: Building in Aston Craigieburn 532Nov 27, 2013 1:59 pm Yes that must be him! Lets hope he actually does the work abd is not all talk!!! Have you dedided on anyone? Re: Building in Aston Craigieburn 533Nov 27, 2013 2:03 pm Not entirely ES... Unfortunately we Vedroians are on a hill (Hint: never buy a sloping block ). We've got a few issues to tend to with finishing a rear retaining wall and letting it settle. We're also waiting on one neighbour who will need a retaining wall so our RHS fence doesn't collapse into the ground. When they cut your lot it gets complicated unfortunately. We thought we'd get them started a couple of days ago but the contractor said no way. Certain things need tending to first and now said can't attend to ours until February !! Hey ES how did you go with the NBN? Re: Building in Aston Craigieburn 534Nov 27, 2013 2:07 pm Oh fencing! Its been horrible. .hopefully we'll all have fences soon. NBN has has been a pain! I signee up with dodo last week Monday (I know I am an idiot! ) and am still waiting for someone to call me to give me an appointment for a someone to come out and get us connected. It looks like I will be waiting for ever. I am so badly struggling without the internet and have heaps of uni work to do! How's yours going? How's the speed? I'm beginning to think the actual building of the house is the easy part ES. Post handover is where all the headaches begin. I'd get on dodo's back. I've heard that the contractor working for NBNco. Is currently not paying it's workers and work is grinding to a halt a little bit. Other than that. It's really great. We're on the 100/40mps package and it's very fast and (touch wood) highly reliable so far. Re: Building in Aston Craigieburn 536Nov 27, 2013 2:18 pm Post handover has been filled with headaches! We had leaks and things. So annoying. Still waiting on tradies. Just callee dodo and they said they are waiting on the supplier. Hopefully it will not be too far off! Being so close to Christmas has me worried. Im glad yours has been good so far. How long did it take for you to get connected? How long did it take for you to get connected? Hey hang tight ES. That first month will drive you crazy having tradies coming back to fix their stuffups. I think I'm emailing Henley once or twice a week ATM. It "generally" gets sorted. As for connection? We booked ours around 6 weeks in advance just to be safe which proved to be a wise move. That meant it was connected a couple of days after we moved in. The actual connection providing your builder has put the provision in (cables through the wall and side of house) takes about 2 hours. The main part is as long as the cable has been run correctly from the street to your nature strip. Once the NBN co tech hooks you up you're good to go almost straight away. Re: Building in Aston Craigieburn 538Nov 27, 2013 5:24 pm A friend of mine was building in Aston, and has organized fencing and so far pretty happy with the dude. I'll get his details off him, if someone wants to get quotes and done their fencing. Re: Building in Aston Craigieburn 539Nov 27, 2013 8:49 pm Damn you guys I thought finance is a ball braker as I am still trying to work it out and got to a point where I said to my gf if I had a choice I wouldn't build again but I am sure it will get its self sorted hopefully by end of next week or I will be on a warpath not that it will help me lol. Hope all the fencing and NBN stuff gets sorted out for you guys. So far I must admit Simonds has been nothing but great help hopefully it stays that way (knock on the wood) Re: Building in Aston Craigieburn 540Dec 08, 2013 7:17 am Hi all, Just dropping by to say hi! We are building in Stage 9B, Champion Parade, due to title in Feb, building with Porter Davis and have just completed the tender process which went well! Have been reading intently all of the issues/concerns/stresses/excitement/happiness… Drinks at our place when we move in Hey guys building a new place through a volume builder and just wondering if i should complain to the site supervisor as we just had plasterboard installed. Looks like… 0 11755 Elvis has left the building... The site supervisor quit after 2 month on the project. I guess he was just instructed to bark at people, but didn't like when he was… 26 21497 |
