Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Who is building with Beechwood 481May 23, 2011 10:31 am Im so sorry Anna, its happened to us aswell. I really dont know what to say. But i have been there and i feel your anger. I really do. Its just horrible its happening for you too. hopefully people are on site today but probably not cause like Anna, its probably raining at our block even though newcastle is 60-70ks away. we now have the guttering, tiles onsite, so there is no excuse. We have a MJ home going up nr us - the bronte - its so big, within a week, they had site scraped, slab done, and frame up (what took BW 8 weeks has taken MJ home 1 week) i knew we should have gone with them. (we were looking at the tenterfield Jacarada and it was $80k more than BW - so they were really out of our budget) i hope to go out to our block this arvo after my boys swimming lessons so hopefully see some action. So many of the designs most builders are comming out with have walls everwhere and stacks of seperate little rooms. We loved the open planning + I think those boxy designs aren't great for families. Teenages can avoid interacting with their family because there is always another little room to retreat too LOL. I really hope you get some movement today. At least you have your materials there, ready to go!! You'll be up in no time!! I'm sure we'll get there too. Just sick of feeling that I have to push every step of the way to get things done. That's what we're suppose to be paying them for! Sent BH a very blunt email asking for answers. Our house is suppose to be done in 15 weeks. We want to know when we're likely to actually get it finnished. Joe got a phone call to ask if they can call to check the weather Wednesday morning. Would've been nice if they'd bothered today. Knowing our luck it probably will be raining. But that was all they said. I'm going to call this afternoon and try to get some sort of timeline for the house. It's been 13 weeks since BW got all their paperwork and we've had 6 days work towards the house. It's really getting beyond a joke. 20/4 - Earthworks 25/5 SLAB 9/6 Frame 21/6 Roof 5 - 22/7 Bricking 1/8 Gyprocking 16 - 18/08 Faulty Trusses repaired 17/08 Kitchen in 07/09 Tilers 15/09 Painters 30/9 Plumbers finished 7/10 Settled Re: Who is building with Beechwood 483May 23, 2011 4:09 pm You poor things. This will be me in 12 months. But thank god I'll be well and truely prepared for this, thanks to Homeone. This rain crap just sounds like another stalling tactic. They don't send concrete trucks from Newcastle for heaven's sakes. 'Just starting' did say her build was 35 weeks. I'd go by that to save alot of heartache and stress. I definately will be. Regarding MJ, the estate I'm building in, is full of their acreage homes. I can spot one a mile awhile. They ALL look the same. And yes, boy they are expensive. For us: went up yesty and the facia and guttering was being installed, the roof hand rail was today and the roof is starting tomorrow (if the rain stays away) with brickies to start as soon as the roof has finished. Can someone look at our plans and let me know what you think.....we were going to have the games room (infront of the garage) as our media room and the formal lounge/dining as the kids room but now we can get a feel for the house im thinking of giving the kids the games room and the media room will be the formal lounge/dining. Im thinking this cause on the rare occasion we have a fair few people over ie xmas, and the back family room is getting alittle tight people can 'over flow' into the media room and i can open the sliding doors, where at the moment they can still over flow into the media room but it will be around the corner, IYKWIM. The only thing is that we have put all these cupboards in the kids room (which may now be the media room) not that is a problem as ill just get more cupboards put in the games room. i dont know....im just confused and not sure what to do Our Acreage Build The Lakeview Lodge - Beechwood Homes 01/04/10 YES 2010 - Deposit paid 23/09 - PCI CANCELLED 28/09 - PCI - will it happen.-18 months later 07/10/11 - ITS OURS..WOOHOO Re: Who is building with Beechwood 485May 25, 2011 11:38 am acrebuild1 Can someone look at our plans and let me know what you think..... I think you're right. I would be making the games room the kids playroom. If you are thinking about overflow then the double doors into the lounge/dining room will make it feel much more open less like people are being pushed off into another room. Check with BW; it might not be a hassle to shift those cupboards into the other room. They would only have minimal framing and from the looks of the plan I think the far wall in the games room would be the same width. It won't cost anything to ask and then you might save the cost of adding more cupboards later! Hope your guys got something done today! Put up picks as soon as you have them. I need to see something around here moving along!! We had light rain this morning so no slab again. It's cleared up now but the conreters weren't to know it would. Booked in again for Friday and so far the forecast it great!! 9 weeks in and still no slab Things have to go our way sooner or later! 20/4 - Earthworks 25/5 SLAB 9/6 Frame 21/6 Roof 5 - 22/7 Bricking 1/8 Gyprocking 16 - 18/08 Faulty Trusses repaired 17/08 Kitchen in 07/09 Tilers 15/09 Painters 30/9 Plumbers finished 7/10 Settled Re: Who is building with Beechwood 486May 25, 2011 7:36 pm oh crap anna, i knew last night that you probably wouldnt get a slab, Its so frustrating and especially knowing you should have had the slab weeks ago. THERE'S MORE!! At 7.30 last night I called the concreter to confirm the slab for today. He said he was just about to call us, he was terribly sorry but he couldn't get a concrete pump and the slab could not be done till next week. He had tried a few places but everyone was booked out. I could've cried The weather was going to be perfect and next week it's meant to rain. I told my husband who was less then impressed and went straight for the yellow pages, called the first concrete pump place with a mobile number and found an available pump. He called the concreter who was thrilled and put them in contact to get organised. Then he jumped in the car and went to see a mate who runs the local concrete place to organise the concrete. By 8.30 we had everything organised to have our slab done today which bes the question.... what are we paying BW for??? We got our slab and that's the most important thing. But we're 9 1/2 weeks into a 24 week build and we've only had 2 days of weather delays. And after all the drama with the slab we don't have a whole lot of confidence in them at the moment. From what the contractors said today I get the impression I'm not BW favourite customer at the moment but after everything that's happened so far.... I don't care. This is not what we expected when we decided to go with a builder. Anyway, the slab is done and the concreters did a fantastic job. It looks great!! We've been told the frame should be delivered Mon or Tue, Windows Wed and Carpenters Thursday. The weather forecast doesn't look great so we'll have to wait and see. I just hope this means things will move full steam ahead from here!! 20/4 - Earthworks 25/5 SLAB 9/6 Frame 21/6 Roof 5 - 22/7 Bricking 1/8 Gyprocking 16 - 18/08 Faulty Trusses repaired 17/08 Kitchen in 07/09 Tilers 15/09 Painters 30/9 Plumbers finished 7/10 Settled Re: Who is building with Beechwood 492May 27, 2011 9:44 pm Anna, its huge, it looks great. were the concretors Italian? Just a quick update... Went to our block today as we had some (well alot) of excavation of our backyard done! Another all day job and couple of thousand $$ (! but had to be done, I just wish they do the cut they continue to the end of your block, but nah and we had to do whilst we had good access as neither block has started there build and we needed double boggie trucks so they had plenty of room... But happy to report our electrical rough ins has been done, and our cavity sliding door frames had been installed and site clean up down so still heading in the right direction )! Wonder whats next? I am thinking the eaves, then the insulation and then the gyrocking, we did have a delivery of what likes waterproof sheeting for the bathrooms maybe? Acre1 - looking good, they have done alot this week it must bring a smile to your face! Acre2.2 - What a joke, cant believe you had to source a concrete pump! Bloody Hell! It becomes water proof. But remember after lockup, there should be no more weather excuses. It's all inside work. But 8 weeks seems abit long. Usually after lockup, well in my previous builds, things should go quicker.
