Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Doing it again 41Jul 20, 2016 1:40 pm Just received an email advising that the developer has approved my plans. Still awaiting council approval & finance of course. They were pretty quick with ours, they printed an amendment to our site plan with the approval - had to reduce crossover wings from 1m to .5m each side so not more than 7m at boundary but glad we didn't have to resubmit for that. I gather they are pretty reasonable Our Custom Dale Alcock build in the Village at Wellard https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=78620 Re: Doing it again 43Jul 23, 2016 7:19 pm I hope council approves within the next week though i doubt it. I should hopefully hear back about finance early this week. Everything has been going so fast & smoothly it's blowing my mind. I've got a feeling that the slab will be poured on or around the 22 August. Touch wood i haven't jinxed it now 😋 Building SOR with Dreamstart Homes Customised Dream Dior/Summer Sensation https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=83776 Re: Doing it again 44Jul 23, 2016 7:21 pm W2t, is Dales doing your crossover too? I didn't add that in to my contract - thought i might be able to get it done cheaper thru the paver who did the paving at the back of my last place. I think they needed to put a proposed driveway/crossover in place though. Do you know about the crossover rebate from the council? I posted on the Village Chat FB page a couple of weeks ago to get some recommendations for trades, long story short a lady said she didn't have crossover wings (no one in her street does) and she couldn't get crossover rebate because of it. Our Custom Dale Alcock build in the Village at Wellard https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=78620 Re: Doing it again 46Jul 23, 2016 9:35 pm Yeah the driveway has to have wings no more than 1m wide each side, and must also have the limestone base under the paving. From memory the rebate was only $250 - a couple of years back though. Interesting that you had to include the crossover in your plans. I didn't have to. I'm so excited! Now all I need is my finance approval and then all my ducks are lined up, ready to go... We got told driveway no wider than 6m, with 0.5m wings to make max 7m at kerb. We have no footpath so can get $540 - enough to buy... I dunno.. One of the million other things we need! It seems they have changed a little since i first built http://www.kwinana.wa.gov.au/our-servic ... -Plans.pdf Building SOR with Dreamstart Homes Customised Dream Dior/Summer Sensation https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=83776 Re: Doing it again 50Jul 26, 2016 10:35 am $540 is a great rebate W2T. I have a footpath along the front of mine, so won't be getting near as much rebate, but every little cent back helps. I think i'll be putting my rebate towards the paving or retic for the back yard. Speaking of, i'll have to start planning the structure of my back yard now that i have the plans showing where & how the house will actually be positioned. 125sqm minimum of back yard to work with... gonna need lots of plants😣 Building SOR with Dreamstart Homes Customised Dream Dior/Summer Sensation https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=83776 Re: Doing it again 51Jul 26, 2016 10:48 am That's what I was looking at the other day, where I got 6m and from. That's consistent with what was on our building permit note. I love how big your back yard is, how do you want to use it? Our Custom Dale Alcock build in the Village at Wellard https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=78620 Re: Doing it again 52Jul 26, 2016 11:05 am Yeah its a really good size - tried to get.the house pushed as far back as i could so that i didn't have quite as much yard at the back - and more yard at the front which would have been landscaped, retic'd, planted entirely by the developer. Unfortunately that would have meant paying for additional paving at the builder's rates. Oh well, you win some, you lose some. I haven't quite decided what i will do with it, other than paving down both sides and about 1m wide along the back of the house. I won't be getting a clothesline or garden shed immediately, but will probably make paving allowances for those. The rest will probably be a mix of garden beds, lawn area & entertainment (prob need to allow for more paving there too). Possibly include some raised garden beds along the back retaining wall 'cos that is about 8ft or more high, so i want to break up some of that expanse. I've been looking on pinterest for ideas, but might have to check out some of the posts on the homeone garden forums Building SOR with Dreamstart Homes Customised Dream Dior/Summer Sensation https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=83776 Re: Doing it again 53Jul 27, 2016 5:21 pm Received my 'final' plans today. Having fun checking the electrical plan - not. They've omitted the gpo for the fridge recess by the looks of it, and i have a conduit literally situated in the centre of my theatre room ? In other news, just got word from my mortgage broker that my finance has been unconditionally approved! 💃 Building SOR with Dreamstart Homes Customised Dream Dior/Summer Sensation https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=83776 Re: Doing it again 54Jul 27, 2016 7:27 pm Woohoo! Congrats on finance, that's great news. Agree about breaking up the big wall. Checkout perth planters for some nice pics. There's a bother local bunch that specialise in limestone planters if you wanted to match.
