Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Building with simonds homes is SA 41Jun 19, 2015 8:19 pm Do you remember your ensuite laminate and tile colour? Could they be sepia oak and belga grey tiles?? If so it looks wonderful, on our shortlist to change to! Re: Building with simonds homes is SA 42Jun 19, 2015 8:20 pm bums! What a shame. You're supposed to be looking forward to an exciting happy time. Gee the bank stuffed everyone up with their poor time management. Hang in there JJ What did you think of the Simonds Avalon display at Blakes? I need to have another look as I wasn't too fond of the styling. I want it to grow on me. And how long do you think it will take until the bank will get its act together? Re: Building with simonds homes is SA 43Jun 20, 2015 5:35 pm Hi Bluesteel! Yes you are right sepia oak and belga grey! they compliment each other so well Hi tomcat, I think it all depends now how quickly simonds insurance company is able to fix things and then the banks will have to do their valuation once thats done, so maybe a couple of weeks? Yeah i checked them out i loved the styling of the first one but i was not a fan of the second two. I think Simonds should have stuck to their more classic/contemporary styling, thats partly the reason i picked them over the other builders. How is your build going? any issues so far? Re: Building with simonds homes is SA 44Jun 20, 2015 6:31 pm How disappointing for you. Oh well, it will come around pretty quickly, so you just maintain the excitement a bit longer really Yes I like their classic styling too. My fave was the second/middle one with the Beatles/British 60s theme ... Very dark and moody. The funky colours in the Avalon were fine but all the bright silver and white made it too 'cool' for my liking. Hey, we don't have to live there eh? Coming along good. Roof goes on next week and plumbing yay! Re: Building with simonds homes is SA 45Jul 22, 2015 5:11 am Hey JJ have your issues been sorted? Hope you are able to move in soon Re: Building with simonds homes is SA 46Aug 01, 2015 9:53 am The builder is only as good as the tradies they hire. All builders are the same. That was my advice from "a real tradie" Re: Building with simonds homes is SA 47Aug 01, 2015 10:00 am Hope you get to move in soon, can't believe people, seriously!!! Re: Building with simonds homes is SA 48Aug 02, 2015 8:53 pm kyliebsmith The builder is only as good as the tradies they hire. All builders are the same. That was my advice from "a real tradie" Yes agree. Shame a lot of tradespeople take no pride in their work Re: Building with simonds homes is SA 49Aug 09, 2015 12:04 am My builder will not use any trades that dont maintain a high quality standard , and have been told that if some trades get work via big companys, they let their quality drop as its not their name on job and less pay means often less job. Re: Building with simonds homes is SA 50Aug 09, 2015 12:58 am Joker, why not post something nice on JayJay's thread or apologise for accusing her of fibbing. Did you not read, she's happy with her build and she is a real person? Her house got broken into, that was her only disappointment. Someone else started discussing problems not her. Go start your own thread for your negativity So JayJay, are you in yet? Did the insurance cover break-in/theft? How did it all turn out? Been eager to hear how you are going and see more pics! Re: Building with simonds homes is SA 51Aug 22, 2015 10:46 pm Hi guys! I haven't been on here in a while, been busy settling in and decorating lol! All the issues with the stove were fixed within 3 days and because technically we hadn't had handover of the keys, it was all covered on the builders insurance and not ours..phew! So we have been in our house for 7 wks now, still so much to do! it's overwhelming how much has to be done when you first move in but its so exciting when you do little bits at a time I will upload some photos soon of what we have done! How is your build going @tomcat ? Re: Building with simonds homes is SA 56Aug 23, 2015 11:02 am Wow!!! Loving your kitchen And your dining table is gorgeous! Can see you're onto the living/dining already, nice little touches starting to creep in. You've scared me about how much work it is. I was hoping once I was out of this horrible old house it would all be fluffy clouds and butterflies Thanks for the update, been keen to hear how you've been. We've had a couple of hiccups but nothing that can't be fixed (without an engineer!) Re: Building with simonds homes is SA 57Nov 03, 2015 8:47 pm Hi JJ, first I have to say I love your dining table and chairs! But just a question about your lighting, I noticed you swapped the batten lights above your island bench for pendant lights later on, I was just wondering if it was very difficult? Did you get an electrician in to do it, and if so (if you don't mind my asking) was it very expensive to do? Also, if you remember, what was your flooring? it looks stunning! Building Simonds Hudson viewtopic.php?f=31&t=80646 I would never build with Fowler homes. I built with them in 2021 and till date maintenance issues are pending.
