Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Jaz & Jases First Home Build - HGWA 41Jul 03, 2015 9:19 pm Finally got around to choosing our tiles and laminate. We have full height tiling in both our bathrooms and were planning on doing all black originally, however ended up falling in love with a stone textured grey tile at European Ceramics. Quite a last minute change of mind but my partner and I love it. Wall tile: 300 x 600 rectified "marm013" Floor: 300 x 300 'Willy Bone" Benchtops: Caesarstone Vanilla Noir in the ensuite (It's an amazing black marble) and Caesarstone Jet Black in bathroom and powder (as vanilla noir is a pricey upgrade) Cabinets: Laminex Black CrystalGloss Kitchen/Scullery/Laundry: Overall floor tiles: the white colour from Home group's standard range of Della Vita tiles Cabinets: Laminex Burnished Wood (silk finish) Stone: Ceasarstone 'pure white' Splashback: mirror (after handover). When we first began talks with Homegroup they said they had a pure white stone available as a non-upgrade option - however they apparently stopped this stone and in order to get us to sign our sales assistant said that we would be able to choose the pure white stone from Ceasarstone as a replacement (if we pay a $500 admin fee). This sales rep has now left the company so I am a little worried that they will try charge us at pre start and won't honour the deal.. Although our new sales rep has said it will be fine. Hmm better not be a problem! Just wanted to ask if Home Group WA ended up allowing you to choose from Ceasarstone? I've found a stone bench top I love from their range and didn't think I'd be able to have it at all! Re: Jaz & Jases First Home Build - HGWA 46Jul 27, 2015 7:56 pm shannonkent15 Hi Jasmine and Jason. Just wanted to ask if Home Group WA ended up allowing you to choose from Ceasarstone? I've found a stone bench top I love from their range and didn't think I'd be able to have it at all! Hi Sharon, yes we were allowed to use Ceasarstone but had to pay a $500 admin fee. However I think the only reason they made this exemption is because of our issue with the pure white stone from Della Vita being discontinued. No harm in asking Building with HomegroupWA in Spearwood: https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=73170 HGWA BUILD IN OCEAN ROAD ESTATE 48Aug 07, 2015 10:23 pm We have unfortunately encountered our first problem with Homegroup WA! We are so angry at this point of time and feel as though we should share our current issues so others are aware. As an incentive to get us to sign with HGWA our sales consultant said we could choose the pure white colour stone from caesarstone (simply by paying a $500 admin fee) as he was aware that we really wanted white stone and their company originally had a pure white stone when we began talks, however discontinued prior to us signing. This sales rep verified the offer with management and has since left the company. We have bits and pieces of proof of his offer however now HGWA are not following through (even though we verified the offer verbally with our new sales rep who said it was fine). HGWA have offered to give us a standard colour of caesarstone for free (actually i shouldn't say free, we did pay $500 admin fee) to EITHER the kitchen, or bathrooms, powder and ensuite. This offer is completely invalid though as by paying our admin fee we are already entitled to standard selection!!! (also noting that we have paid thousands in upgrading to stone already throughout the home from standard laminate). See below quote of when we were planning to upgrade to vanilla noir throughout- which was IN LIEU OF STANDARD CAESARSTONE! Yet their reasoning for charging us extra for standard is "The cost of the standard Ceaser Stone is dearer than Della Vita as Home Group WA don’t have a relationship with this supplier so the price we receive from the contractor is higher." We are aware that Caesarstone pure white stone is a deluxe upgrade, but we are still entitled to choose at no additional cost as per our deal. And should be only paying for the upgrade to vanilla noir on our ensuite bench (as we ended up choosing standard jet black in bathroom and powder). This is so ridiculous that they are not following through with their sales reps offer of the white stone and pretty much think we are idiots for thinking that standard selection to only part of the house is a good deal haha. If anyone has any advice would be greatly appreciated. Hope this issue gets sorted ASAP as it's holding everything up Building with HomegroupWA in Spearwood: https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=73170 Re: First Home Build - HGWA - Ocean Road Estate 49Aug 08, 2015 10:13 am Bugger!!! I'm a bit confused though. Was the $500 admin fee to upgrade to their "non supplier caesarstone" to the whole house for the $500 or just kitchen? You thought it was for whole house and they're saying kitchen only? Re: First Home Build - HGWA - Ocean Road Estate 50Aug 09, 2015 6:35 pm Beazley77 Bugger!!! I'm a bit confused though. Was the $500 admin fee to upgrade to their "non supplier caesarstone" to the whole house for the $500 or just kitchen? You thought it was for whole house and they're saying kitchen only? Hi Beazley The $500 was an admin fee to be able to use Ceasarstone for the whole house in lieu of Della Vita - as from the get go we said we wanted the upgrade to vanilla noir in the bathrooms (which is an upgrade from the standard selection) and the white stone in kitchen/scullery. Standard Ceasarstone should therefore be able to be chosen where ever, we should only be paying the upgrade to vanilla noir in the areas we want and we shouldn't be paying for the upgrade to pure white stone (as per the offer from sales person). There was definitely no mention of paying the admin fee and then having to pay extra again for standard colours! Our sales rep obviously didn't realise that pure white was an upgrade colour from Ceasarstone when he said we could use it and just wanted to close the sale. How is everything going with your build? Must be nearly time for keys??! House is looking great! Re: First Home Build - HGWA - Ocean Road Estate 53Aug 10, 2015 11:28 am Hi Jas, Sorry to hear this! Such a joke. I would ask to speak to management and explain everything from the beginning (although it sounds like you have). Once you are happy with the outcome, make sure you have it in writing. If it's over the phone just send an email confirming what you have discussed verbally and ask that they acknowledge receipt of your email. That way you have something to fall back on. Good luck! Hi Ash Management got in touch with us today and have offered us another option to try and compensate for the issue/miscommunication. I will fill you in on facey! Think there has been a big lack of communication and it makes it hard when our sales person doesn't even work for the company anymore. Ah yes there must be so many things to sort out before moving in! Seems like it's all coming together My other half and I were looking at your house the other day as you have quite similar external colours to us in the sense that they are cool tone. We have surf mist render and garage, shale grey roof and surf mist window frames. We are so undecided about our front door colour though - we initially chose 'forest grey' stain from Cabot's however I'm a little worried it will turn out a murky colour.. So considering changing to rich walnut however I'm not too keen on mixing warm and cool tones.. However you have haven't you and it looks good! What colour stain is your front door? Our front colours are solver and I can't recall what they are. Polish grey and barnacle I think. It's a colour scheme off a display home we liked The door isnt stained yet. It's jarrah. It'll be getting just a clear coat once it's had a sand. No point doing that jut now whilst trades brushing through.... Re: First Home Build - HGWA - Ocean Road Estate - PRESTART 58Aug 16, 2015 1:08 pm Stone Update: Since we were unable to get the white Caesarstone included (as per our above issue) we have chosen Carerra White Della Vita stone to the kitchen, laundry and scullery. I am happy with it though as I originally wanted a marble stone (before knowing how ridiculously expensive it was). Lets hope Della Vita's version will look nice! We were offered a small stone credit from our current sales rep to account for our troubles so at least they offered us something. We have finally signed off on our pre start from August 4th! So our slab is due in 3months. We initially got pretty much everything included in our initial contract so our pre start was all the extra bits and pieces. Will list some of the main costings below! *Kitchen and scullery to silk finish: $1385 *Carpet upgrade to Lasting Impressions (Spring): $1693 *Upgrade to Electrolux EHG953BA 900mm gas hotplate (we upgraded from free standing to inbuilt, and then to this): $600 We mainly decided to upgrade this as the other layout was impractical with the large burner at the back. We also thought the glass would be easier to clean. *Upgrade to the Cascade Eco Dual Shower: $400 *Had to pay $1000 to change our pantry to a flush laminate pantry instead of the built in pantry that we were unaware was included. Pretty sure it would be cheaper to build a laminate pantry instead of building the pantry as mini room! Ripped off here I think but it would look silly with a regular door! *Upgrade to Kado Arc 430 Under Counter Basins to ensuite: $1460. So ridiculously expensive for two sinks considering the included ones are nice in my opinion. But as we're using the lovely black marble to the ensuite we decided to include.. This was the one thing we were so undecided on. Probably not worth that upgrade fee at all.. We also upgraded door handles throughout, a few mitred edges where most noticeable, pull out draw to laundry, upgrade tap wear, acrylic render, integrated floor wastes, lockable metre box, stained front door, kitchen bin draw and soft close cupboards throughout. I'll be happy with matte finish cupboards thanks!
