The tender holds the power over the drawings, so ensure that what you want listed in the tender eventually gets there. Ask them straight up what's the quickest way to proceed, waiting for Wisdom to amend the tender or you signing off on current tender with them making the noted changes before Contract signing. I know with ours that we had changes done pre tender acceptance and then more changes (due to there errors) done between tender and contract signing. I used to always note Wisdom of their errors within a day and ask them the quickest way forward. There is no doubt that the drawings will constantly change during the process anyways, as you add things/change things. At least they got back to you before the break. Oz. Re: Building with Wisdom Homes 3683Dec 21, 2016 1:07 pm msjovi Great progress and pics Kirst and Hashem! What great stages to finish up at before Xmas! Hashem - yours is going especially quick! I cannot believe you already have a staircase! Ours is going slow and steady.. bricking was supposed to be finished this week and the majority of it will. We just have to wait for the concreter to pour an extension to the porch area so the pillar can be relocated. And how funny is this, the carpenter came to correct the void issue of the facade but moved our entry frame instead of the window frame. It's like a comedy of errors! Lol! All we can do is laugh. Our SS took one look and just rolled his eyes.. he couldn't believe it. But he was onto it straight away, and it should get fixed by the end of the week. We haven't had any luck with getting our roof on before Xmas though. At this rate, it will be really interesting to see whether they complete the build within our contract period. But I've reached the stage where I'm just hoping for a good quality build regardless of how long it takes. It has been quite the journey for you guys thus far. Hopefully with this year coming to a close shortly, that 2017 your fortunes will flip completely around. I am a bit pessimistic that our build will have a smooth run - we made a lot of changes to our build, its a big build so more changes of mistakes happening.....we shall see. Oz. Can't hurt I'm thinking.[/quote] I found that generally the admin girls in the office were quite reasonable when something needed to be added into the tender at all stages of the process. They were certainly aware of mistakes happening in drafting, but generally these mistakes are not noted until the client (us) pick them up, so no proofing happening at their end. They will make variations once you begin the appointments including the choices that you make, and any mistakes that you pick up can be noted in the variations that they will do. Just ensure that you email them of the "mistakes" so its on record, and ensure that they are eventually noted in the tender at some point. I think they got sick of us going back to them with mistakes, that eventually we were told that the tender adjustments would be made when the variations begin with your appointments. I think that there are mistakes happening re drafting on all jobs, and no proofing done to pick up on these, but at least in our case they finally got it correct but it wasn't until the very end of the process that everything finally got there. I think as long as you make your consultants aware of the mistakes, they will be addressed in bulk at a point where the job doesn't keep going back and forth to drafting/estimating. Re: Building with Wisdom Homes 3690Dec 21, 2016 1:36 pm Jordann Thanks JM and MM. Just a little disappointed with WH and all the time we have wasted waiting for this, they could have reached out to us about these issues, could have fixed all of this before the drawings. Funny thing is, we removed the shower door in the master ensuite from the start, was even charged $1000 to accommodate that. So seems like there's no one in WH proof reading these things before they are sent out. We're on our 3rd tender and there's still incorrect details. I would like to keep the double CSD if possible but willing to change it to a big single door if needed. We had a normal CSD in our old place and it was a pain to move furniture's in and out, so this time we'd like a bigger door opening. Yes I understand your pain, and it would appear to make sense for them to be more proactive (or proactive) about such issues, but be prepared to accept that this is not how they operate. I think it comes down to each person's management of a particular job - its much easier to manage a job fixing 100 mistakes in one go than fixing 1 mistake 100 different times. It would be great if they if they met the initial brief however, at least starting off the process on the right foot, but this seems like its hardly happening as well. We had a few tenders, and the one we signed off on still had mistakes, but were told that these would be fixed before contract signing, and would be speed up the process. That's debatable whether that happened, but its also unknown if it saved us any time either. Firstly Msjovi, such great news!!!! I'm so glad things are finally starting to get resolved for you. Yes, the right SS is key. We had our new one call yesterday and introduce himself. He seemed lovely, I just hope he's as organised as our last one!! As least our last one isn't far away, he's the new ones boss!! Everyone who's going through the admin delays, just stick with it. It's exhausting, draining and makes you feel defeated but it worth it at the end! Update on our place, we got tiles this week! And our benchtop has been put on but it's all covered with cardboard and plastic so I can't even see it!! Really happy with our progress before chrissy and the guys are working this week too with our garage door going on on Monday and the air con vents getting cut out and first coat of paint!! Managed to get a few ** pics today, then realised the tiler was up the other end of the house!! So hubby and I quickly snuck back out!!! Feels weird, sneaking out of your own house lol!! Love the Carrara tiles! Are they from the Prestige range, code DL20463??? I have a picture on my phone of similar tiles but can't read the code very well. They look great in matte! We chose similar but glossy & rectangle, with very subtle pattern through the tile. How exciting seeing it all come together, can't wait to see more pics Thank you so much chino! You really start to doubt yourself when making some of the colour choices so I'm really glad it's looked good so far. Next is to see the wall paint, Im thinking it will be too creamy for the look we are going for, but I guess we can always paint over that! Not as easy to change tiles if we hated how they looked! They are actually Calcutta (product code DL20535). I can't remember if they are from the prestige or smart, we are building a smart home but did pay for the prestige package. They weren't any extra on top of what we had already paid for our packages. I love how subtle the pattern through it is! I don't remember them being matte, but we selected back in Feb I think, so can't remember a lot! I'm so happy with them tho!!! They will look amazing when they are cleaned and not all gritty! Will be sure to post pics of the final product!!! We didn't quite manage to get a roof put on before shut down with all the delays, but bricking has been completed. The rectification works will continue in the new year when they'll core drill a new pier for the column that needs to be relocated at the front. And then the brickies will be back to build it up and finish the final row of the balcony. So a little while to go yet until the error is rectified. Our new SS is on the ball though so we're feeling really positive about the new year and what's to come. He said he's seen far worse errors at his previous company - once they had to demolish a whole garage! I hope everyone has a great Christmas and all the best for 2017!
