Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Masterton Homes - The next thread 4.0 3141Jan 18, 2015 7:05 pm Marina12. Thanks for the info on the down pipes. I thought just painting them to blend with the bricks would be the best option. We have a vacant block of land. A rare find in the area. We've actually owned it a while now. We had been sitting on it for a while and then talking to another builder for over 8 months before we gave up and moved to M. The other house just wasn't working for our block and the builder wasn't trying to get it to work for us. We lost our deposit but in the scheme of things it wasn't a huge amount. We have been in the planning stages for over a year now so what's a bit longer?? HA HA!!!! We had a good meeting with our sales consultant at Warwick Farm on the weekend on the Villina Lane. She made a point of not trying to up-sell us, but had some great ideas on small changes to help us get what we wanted - like more linen cupboard space upstairs & re-arranging downstairs a little to fit a shower into the bathroom. Thanks to MGardz for encouraging us to go back - our 'new' sales consultant is such a pleasure, the first one very nearly put us off M altogether. We are having 2.7 metre ceilings downstairs and moving the back sliding door so that the Alfresco has two stacker doors. My ultimate wish list is to have a pillarless corner there - easy to do on a single story but a bit of an engineering challenge for two story like the Villina. If I can get it done it will look amaizing, with both stackers open the house flows out into the alfresco. Yes the cost will probably prohibit this, but we're still in the dream stage of the process! Jim's grandson is going to come to our place to view the block & work out the front boundary, plus see where the existing house is sitting. We are still hopeful we can go with CDC and not need full council approval. M are still recommending State Demolition, which is strange given the number of complaints here about their 'finding' extra costs after starting. With this in mind we are looking around for a reliable demo company. We have an old fibro cottage that I know is just packed with asbestos - so I don't need anyone hitting my up for unexpected extras when they bring this shack down. It's great to see photos of your builds, it gives me hope that we'll be there one day! I saw him at Warwick Farm before Christmas. He's old but still kicking!!! Re: Masterton Homes - The next thread 4.0 3152Jan 19, 2015 9:51 am Good Luck this time Gibson! We saw Jim at Warwick Farm when we signed the contracts in December. Wonder how impressed he'd be reading this forum and the issues we all have with his people. Fingers crossed for you Villinaeliters! Lincashhal - We waited nearly 3 months for our plans! M are very slow. I haven't heard from them yet re our lodgement to the estate for approval pre council lodgement. Oh well. Oh does anyone remember if they had inter-blind doors available? I really want this for the balcony. If not we might do plantations on them. What did anyone else put on the balcony door? Re: Masterton Homes - The next thread 4.0 3153Jan 19, 2015 2:11 pm As promised, our frames arrived today due to go up tomorrow! Pitty about the forecasted rain for the next few days first rain we've had in weeks!! That would be right! Mgardz, not sure about the balcony doors yet. Would love shutters! But will be budget depending! I dont want verticals, i think they are ugly although they are practical. If i cant afford shutters i will probably get a few holland blinds so that i can have the sides down, but door up for access, and maybe some privacy blinds so that the light can still come through, but nobody can see in. I thought I'd sign up and join in on the fun since my fiancée and I are building our first home with Masterton (Concerto Elite). We've got an appointment with HQ next Tuesday to sign our contracts so we're pretty excited and I guess... it's colour selection appointments etc. afterwards? Reading some of peoples signatures and their timelines, seems like there's a fair bit of patience needed from now till start of construction but we're ready for the wait (I think) . Re: Masterton Homes - The next thread 4.0 3155Jan 20, 2015 3:03 pm Welcome TNC2004 - its a long process and the admin can be improved lol. Give them a few days after contract signing to call you to arrange appointments. The good thing is no more exchange of money until slab time after this point Thanks Shell90...Fingers crossed the weather was ok out your way or at least it clears up shortly. M told us today that we should be on our way to the Estate for for approval today or tomorrow. (So, probably next week then lol) so hopefully off to council soon. I wonder if the estate is going to approve my request for colorbond, design guidelines say wood unless BAL requires. Almost hoping for my BAL to stay at 29 (BUT hoping it does not go up ) Re: Masterton Homes - The next thread 4.0 3156Jan 20, 2015 7:59 pm Welcome new people. There seems to be a lot of us starting out which is very exciting and I look forward to hearing about the progress everyone makes. It's going to be an eventful year. I'm in the process of thinking about the finishes we will have in our house and was wondering has anyone chosen the "yes" tiles included in the tender for the main floor tiling?? If yes, what colour and finish?? Has anyone got any photos of them laid?? Can you post them up here please?? I haven't been able to see them anywhere. If anyone has "upgraded"?? Why and what have they chosen? Is it good value?? Thanks in advance. Re: Masterton Homes - The next thread 4.0 3157Jan 20, 2015 8:12 pm Lincashhal Welcome new people. I think the finish is Lappato (according to our tile selection sheet), but its the smoothest finish, the one that is recommended for internal floors. I thought it would have been expensive but the tiles we chose only cost $490 to upgrade. We upgraded because of personal preference, we weren't fond of any of the tiles offered in the yes package and my partner wanted a complete smooth finish, no texture. Yours actually look really nice Gillym! They look so much different as a whole floor over the one tile.
