Technically, it should take 10 working days (17 August 2012) for the approval to arrive. Soon our pre-construction coordinator will be in touch to take us to the next stage. YAY!!!! So basicly Masterton has 20 working days to begin. Apparently according to the PCC the turn around currently is 15 days. So movement soon. Re: Masterton Homes - The new thread 2.0 2295Aug 06, 2012 3:15 pm PowerballSam - congrats. Is that 15 working days? Im up to 8 as of today and nothings happened yet. I'm sure it would be working days. How do you define 'working days' even though they are not working on those days Re: Masterton Homes - The new thread 2.0 2297Aug 06, 2012 3:53 pm Vatche How do you define 'working days' even though they are not working on those days Good point. I work 7 days a week so everyday is a working day Re: Masterton Homes - The new thread 2.0 2298Aug 06, 2012 4:00 pm PowerballSam As of today we are offically in the construction phase. YAY!!!! It's a big achievement and a wonderful feeling! Hope it all comes along fast and smooth for you now Re: Masterton Homes - The new thread 2.0 2300Aug 06, 2012 6:46 pm Working days are of course Monday to Friday excluding Public Holidays so for instance my 20 days took an extra 3 days as I had three public holidays in the 20 days and they put in the porta-loo and fence within the 20 days and that is all they have to do to meet the 'begin construction within 20 days phase'. That being said they started actual real definable work on day 24 and I am now 13 weeks and 2 days on and have PCI at 13 weeks and 4 days. Masterton Homes - The new thread 2.0 2301Aug 06, 2012 8:20 pm Vatche Mike-Villina28 Did anyone have trouble with Masterton getting back to them in relation to natural gas on the street? I know theres gas to the street, but not sure if theres already a gas line to the land. I asked Masterton numerous times if they could find out if theres gas to the meter so I can know the costs if any, but they seem to be ignoring me. Ive spoken to a few neighbours with mix responses, some saying they were asked to pay an additional cost of $15k to get the gas to their land, others didnt pay a cent. Not sure M has anything to do with it. I'm sure you have to ring the supplier and organise the line. M will just connect the HW system to the mains line coming in. M might have some advice, but that's about it. I could be wrong. In our case of KDR, our demolishing company will disconnect all current electricity/phone/gas/foxtel etc. And once the house is finished, I have to get the suppliers of my choice to reconnect, at my cost. Thanks guys for the info. Is AGL the company i should be asking? Would there be other companys that deal with natural gas connections? Just that i dont want a nasty surprise if they say i gotta pay $15k for gas to the main in the future :/ Building Villina28 with Masterton Homes Home located in Fairfield City Council, New South Wales. We too have just gone into the 20 construction phase. Been an interesting journey going through all the stages to get to this point but sure it will be worth it once there's some progress with our block. Sort of sad to see our old shack being demolished as it was our home despite simply being way too small. I'm sure those feelings will be long forgotten when we finally have more than 4 rooms in our house! Happy to see lots of others going into this exciting stage also. Hopefully a trouble free build ****** ahead for everyone. Re: Masterton Homes - The new thread 2.0 2306Aug 07, 2012 8:59 am Monday 6th August rolls around and finally after another f/up) email, we hear that the soil test has been altered from E class to H2. That was great news until we read the email from M. Not only is this 'not the end of it', an M Engineer now has to rework the H1 slab quote pricing. No ETA given, no apology for this taking 6 weeks to be reviewed... Nada... Nothing.... So here we are down to the wire with the tender period less than 2 weeks to expiring, still with no plans or pricing from M. HOW DOES ANYONE DO THIS? It aint meant to be like this surely.....? Mirvac is coming up glowing in our recent dealings with them. They state a quote will take 1 week and to the day we get a 'PHONE CALL' to say that it is ready to come and view. On time..... No fuss. It is this early-stage interaction that makes me wonder if M is like this over the slab classification, what will they be like when PCI comes around...???? My advice for anyone building out there, don't fall in love with your design so much that you let M treat you as just another meal ticket. There are plenty of other designs, offers, pricing that you should keep an eye on if you start to get the runaround. Its difficult to have to sit and wait around when you just want your house started. It is a long process but most builders are like that. My sister built with Mirvac and the pre construction stage was long also, but the build was quick. Going of the posts here the pre constrction stage is long and draining but the build is reasonably fast. Any issue I have ever had M have got onto it really quick and have been really good. Hoping it goes all well for you too! To give you a heads up I had to go with a H2 slab that came in at an extra $5.5k. After reaching lock-up last week we have since had kitchen and vanity cupboards installed, door frames, wardrobes, skirts and architraves installed, stone benchtops installed, waterproofing complete and lower bricks cleaned. We were thinking about 2 months or so to go - but contacted SS today and he said handover could be as early as first week in September. Tilers are in next for 1-1.5 weeks, then painting for about a week. A few more odds and ends then PCI here we come! Like most here pre-construction is where all the time is taken - but when the builds start they go along quite well in our experience. Should be just on 6 months from site scrape to handover for us in a 2-story Villina 36 and 12 months in total from the date we paid our $3500 deposit. Just a question for those in the Newcastle/Lake Macquarie area - we are looking for companies to do the concrete driveway and our glass splashback. Driveway will probably just be coloured concrete - nothing too fancy. If you have any recommendations I'd love you to PM them through to me. Thanks.
