My partner and I are building with Simonds in Victoria and so far they have been great. We were originally with PD and it was a different story. I absolutely love the Sierra's raised roof and If not for our need for a double story it would have been my choice. Decorate your home. We also started of looking at building with Henley, but by chance looked at the Simonds Sierra display and fell in love with that roof, the next day we cancelled with Henley and started with Simonds Mainvue homes by Henley didn't make us feel right from the very start, we couldn't have a copy of the plan to look over. Simonds gave us plans right away and showed us things that others had changed to improve the house, so helpful. Simonds gave us plans right away and showed us things that others had changed to improve the house, so helpful. Our issue with PD was the kitchen my wife is a chef and she wanted a professional grade kitchen, whereas I am all about the pretty so I wanted something a bit more classic. When we tried to explain it to the woman in the gallery she giggled and proceeded to explain to me what was standard. Since we were having 2 kitchens i figured the front one could be for show and my wife could have her ugly shiny one in the butlers. Everything with them was a no or they would tell us what we should do that wasn't even in the vicinity of what i wanted. The straw that broke the camels back was when it was explained to me that "everyone" was going for the modern look and that's what we should do. Simonds is the complete opposite they are pretty much like..... here are our suppliers if they make it you can have it as long as you are willing to pay. And we got a copy of the plan from day one. You are so right on their suggestions. Our sales guy made reasonable suggestions that weren't all about making money but functioning. Also what I loved was that with the other builder there was a bit of tension in regards to the first person we spoke with. You generally don't get 2 females with no children asking for a 5 bedroom home so we were prepared for questions but the first guy couldn't seem to work his head around the concept of us managing to have future children and asked whose husband was going to come for the next meeting assuming one of us has a husband and the other was there for i don't know moral support ( he was dropped immediately). The Simonds guy didn't blink an eye and proceeded to explain how adding extra shelving to the bathroom would make it easier for the kids to share. pure class Now if only i could convince my wife to get me the pink stove life would be complete. Decorate your home. It gives the illusion that your life is more interesting than it really is. Congratulations. Love your selections and the mockup of your frontage looks great. Will be following your progress. Re: Building the Simonds Sierra in SA 32Aug 15, 2013 4:24 pm Excellent! You're going to have a great enclosed area for your entertaining space being on the boundary. Really private. It'll really become like an extra room off the living spaces, awesome.
