Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Who's building with Clarendon?? 13741Mar 25, 2016 6:35 pm Houston we have a problem. Went to the house today to see if they had started the bricks. They had (which is good), we also discovered our slab plan is wrong. They left off the footing for one of our facade pillars. The brickies have started the pillar and just put some extra bits of brick on top of some of the overrun concrete from the slab. It's an absolute mess and should never have been done. Also not happy with some of the overhangs Will give our SS a ring tomorrow and see what he says. So disappointing. Kimisstressed we are at the same stage as you..although we still don't have garage doors on and a few things need to still be rectified. Are you doing flooring and blinds before or after handover? We had our 20 days notice last Friday. I can't wait until we are done and I can hopefully forget about all the bad experiences over the last 12 months and finally get to call this house our home!!!! Thanks KandRCH! How many weeks into your build did you receive your 20-day notice? How exciting - not too long now! Our lower bricks still aren't clean so I hope the garage door doesn't get ruined when they do clean them. I got the 20day notice on Wednesday while I was at work! Who's building with Clarendon?? 13746Mar 25, 2016 9:09 pm Haha mrrrrt ours must be one of the longest builds!!!! We are currently at 42 weeks (not including rain days or Christmas shutdown). We moved out of the house over a year ago to knock it down. I am well and truly over the whole thing and can't wait for it to be over with. We've organised our landscaping and pool so still a few months away until everything will be complete. But I'm moving in the day we get the keys and I'll have to live with the landscapers working while I'm setting up. I'm counting down the days!!!! We are still spending time fixing errors where stupid decisions were made like chopping into architraves because bulkheads were obviously too big etc etc. Crazy!! Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ We won't have an arch on the top of our window (don't have a photo as I get cranky every time I see it) - we asked for square set Windows or as per display but after 3 weeks and much pestering they said no - even though at that stage it was only a sheet or two of plasterboard to fix up... Very disappointing - I am over it. Went up for a look today and garage door is very gappy - is anyone else's like this? Lots of storage space and natural light Thanks! I'm pretty happy with how things look. I'm just a little frustrated stuff isn't happening when they say it will. Tiles should have been completed by now. I'm getting worried our place won't be done by the end of May despite the SS thinking beginning of May. I just don't see it compared to how far along MinandB's build is and their build has a date of May 12 for handover. I'm weeks behind. I'm unsure when settlement dates are drawn for when people buy your house, but a worst case scenario I guess is a 60 day settlement sitting for us towards the end of May. I need at least a couple of weeks to just get stuff done before we move in. This stuff is stressful. Don't know if I'd build again. Our roof tilers, the kitchen guy and our tiler did a good job. Other than that we have had issues at every stage. Our roof tilers, the kitchen guy and our tiler did a good job. Other than that we have had issues at every stage. I want your tiler! I did meet with the tiler Tuesday. When I went in yesterday to find the gate open, front door unlocked, back door unlocked. I had a look around to see if any tiling done and none done. What really annoyed me however, is that in the upstairs powder room, they had the wrong tile there sitting on the floor presumably as a "reminder". There is a clear distinction between floor/wall tiles for upstairs bathrooms vs downstairs bathroom & laundry. Like its pretty obvious. I ended up putting the proper tile in its place as the last think I want is for them to have to rip up tiles. It would really annoy me. Anyway. Had our first open home today and we already have an offer. Had great feedback on our house and 5 people took offer forms. We'll see this afternoon if it goes to multiple offers. We're looking at a 60 day settlement, which means I'll need to start blowing smoke up Clarendon to get a move on. The previous indicators were mid April which is now the end of april/start of may. With a 60 day settlement, we'll be looking at 25 May which makes me really nervous and stressed. It is Genneral stairs, but they won't deal with anyone off the street.
