Re: Masterton Homes - The new thread 122Sep 12, 2009 5:32 pm Ours are between the stairwell and our master bedroom upstairs. We got two controllers one for upstairs and one for downstairs. We also paid for an extra zone (ie 4 zones). Something else to consider... we installed a cavity slider to enable us to close off the main living area (the great room) this can help with lowering the power bills so that you're not trying to cool the whole house. It is certainly good to see everyone progressing well and good to see MrsRose with a contract too . I was able to go through without a price rise and be well within the FHOG too. I think if you got a good CSC it certainly helps. Looks like I got a cheap sarking. I may have to install some whirly wheels as I am told it helps with the house temperatures and roof cavity, anyone getting them? They are not offered by Masterton to my knowledge. Santorini Grande Executive Re: Masterton Homes - The new thread 124Sep 12, 2009 6:24 pm Hey EmoH! No the whirlybirds don't seem to be offered by Masterton but my FIL (building designer in QLD) says that they're easy enough to get installed after handover - so we plan on doing ours then. You were lucky to get through without a price rise... as an aside... have you noticed they've taken their prices down off the website! everything now reads POA! You were lucky to get through without a price rise... as an aside... have you noticed they've taken their prices down off the website! everything now reads POA! We must be one of the few that got a price rise - copped two!! - $3900!!!! We noticed the POA thing the other day. To be honest I think they were one of the few builders who actually advertised their prices. I guess it's a sales tactic?? Re: Masterton Homes - The new thread 126Sep 13, 2009 12:44 am Are whirly birds really essential and a must have? I don't even know what POA$ means, heard it is expensive Anyone esle thinking of engaging building inspectors to check prior to every progress payment? or at least for the final handover. I am thinking it may be a wise thing to do. JT, Did you have any defects after handover? How responsive were they to fixing them? Santorini Grande Executive Re: Masterton Homes - The new thread 127Sep 14, 2009 6:52 pm Great to see everyone is progressing We're on the old system. We have finalised everything on our end including demolition last week. 8 months and still waiting for contracts... We got hit with a price rise too!! POA = Price On Application = exy $$$$$ With all the price rises recently, prices are outdated before they're updated Building: Masterton Villina Contemporary Status: Contract received...nearly into construction Re: Masterton Homes - The new thread 128Sep 14, 2009 7:18 pm Wrongside With all the price rises recently, prices are outdated before they're updated Hear, hear! We finally signed our contracts today - 9 months and one price rise later . We were relieved that a security account was not required (we're doing a cash build) and since there is nothing further to be done by us or them, they should be on-site in 4 weeks.... bring on our portaloo!!!
