Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Asha's HGWA build - Tile meeting 1001Nov 26, 2014 1:27 pm Oh Asha, it's getting to crunch time and that feeds all kinds of anxieties. Hang in there, it won't be long. Where there is a way, it will happen. You're holiday was awesome, you could never take that back. And hopefully the builder is working on a worst case scenario time line. Fingers crossed. Re: Asha's HGWA build - Tile meeting 1002Nov 26, 2014 1:49 pm Hindsight is a great thing asha but try not to dwell on it too much or you will drive yourself crazy. Holiday created memories, paying off a car = more disposable income in the long run as do paying the other things with cash xxx Re: Asha's HGWA build - Tile meeting 1003Nov 26, 2014 1:55 pm Thanks my lovelies - I know we will be better off in the end - but this bit sucks!! We are focusing on getting the exterior sorted first as this is where the biggest expenses are. In the mean time we will be using temp blinds and sealing the concrete to eliminate dust inside and probably just get some carpet offcuts for the bedrooms. We will be basically camping in our house but at least I wont have to do that dreaded school run so I will be a very happy girl Re: Asha's HGWA build - Tile meeting 1004Nov 26, 2014 2:08 pm Asha Its hard . we are trying to borrow more money to do our backyard .and that means to put our cars in our morage .which I wish we didn't have to do . our morage will be really high and I am scared .but we will not have car repayments . so many years ago people didn't won't what we won't now .they saved . but I would be dead by the time I saved the money .lol . I think of it this way .we are not getting any younger so what the hell . live it up lol everything else will work its self out .oh I met someone at a enjo party she still has concrete after 7 years . you will get there .and no more school run .yay .that would of killed me ages ago .he he .oh and just think when you get those things done it will be like having a new house all over again . call it asha renovation Re: Asha's HGWA build - Tile meeting 1005Nov 26, 2014 2:17 pm No school run = less petrol = more $$$. Might not be much but it adds up. We have friends who built the most beautiful custom designed home about eight years ago, it is gorgeous to look at driving up their drive. Stunning. Then you open the front door and they still have concrete and windows without curtains. They don't care, are doing the finishing touches but by bit. Heck, the verandahs only got decked two years ago, they had an inbuilt garden of weeds up til then. For them, it was more important to get the bones of the house they wanted and to update/finish off as they went. Horses for courses....at the end of the day, we all get there eventually. Re: Asha's HGWA build - Tile meeting 1006Nov 26, 2014 2:37 pm I know what you mean - the list of jobs to do after handover is growning and the money pot is getting smaller and smaller. I think it is also just the whole getting near the end and realisation hits. I've been stressing big time, in fact I'm relieved now that handover isn't until January, to give me a bit more time to get my head around everything that needs done. I've got my list.... things that need to be done within a few months, things that need to be done in the first year and things that I would like to be done but can wait till whenever. It helps a bit... when I get too stressed out I read my list and only focus on those things that need to be done in the first few months. Try not to get too much ahead of yourself, and certainly don't regret your fabulous holiday!! Experiences are always worth way more than what you pay for them!! Ours was annoying when we were still renting our other place. It's a long road. I hear ya. Will be worth it in the end. Re: Asha's HGWA build - Tile meeting 1009Nov 26, 2014 10:17 pm I agree with the others you'll get there in the end and definitely don't regret your holiday! I dont regret the trip at all just coulda timed it a bit better. And the concrete will be fine - we've done it before and it didnt do us any harm, plus it gives me more time to tame the little guy who has a thing for throwing stuff ATM and would make short work of a timber floor hehe Re: Asha's HGWA build - Tile meeting 1011Nov 26, 2014 10:48 pm asha Cheers everyone. This building really does test your strength and sanity doesn't it ash! You will be fine and it will all work out just great in the long run. Hang in there! I love those big white matte wall tiles, look incredible! And yep, concrete floors are definitely on trend at the moment so there's the silver lining haha it'll all fall into place, I know how it feels though, between building and planning our wedding, it's exhausting to look at the finances. Re: Asha's HGWA build - Tile progress pics 1020Nov 27, 2014 4:45 pm Just had a call from tiler asking me to come out to discuss something - sounds a tad ominous! The last home I lived in didn't have a pool and when i went to sell it the agents were not happy, even telling me to put one in to sell the place. The agents weren't happy… 2 4758 isn't a garage level with the rest of the house a given? pretty sure they 'came around' long time ago. if you have a flat block, the garage is usually level with the rest… 1 18489 |
