Browse Forums Building Standards; Getting It Right! 1 May 25, 2020 10:51 pm I have recently received council approval to build a Stratco garage within 500mm of my boundary. For the approval I was told I will need to achieve a 60/60/60 fire rating on the wall adjacent to the boundary. My question is, what product and technique should I use to achieve the fire rating? My thought is to apply 16mm fyrchek inside the garage between the girt and the colorbond outer sheet. Other options for products I have found are Stramit Uniguard and Boral FireStop Anyone able to offer me advice as to whether my plan is up to scratch and if any of the 3 products is more suited? I figured based on that approval I can use the system that I outlined in the application. Maybe they just bumped it through due to the new legislation McGowan announced last week regarding approval of sheds and patios? Re: Fire Rating A Garage Wall - WA 4May 26, 2020 2:14 pm Great, Yep their is far too much red tape and IMO getting worse AFAIK, The Fastrack method for patios and sheds is for DA approvals You may still require a Building Application... so the fees/costs should be reduced and the time shortened? It's yet to be seen how it will unfold Cheers Chris Designer,Engineer (Civil,Const & Envir),Builder,Concrete & Masonry Contract.Struct Repairs Thank you again Simeon..
