Browse Forums Building Standards; Getting It Right! 1 Dec 08, 2019 3:01 pm Hi, We have been living in our house for just over 1 year and have had nothing but issues with movement and cracking, including bricks cracking and pushes out. Although we have both front and back exposed aggregate, the builder is trying to lay the blame on us as we only have compressed stone down the sides. We were of the opinion that you should allow some moisture into the clay ( reactive volcanic), to stop it fully sting out. Even without concrete in the sides, I am amazed at the movement that has occurred in under 2 years of being built. Can I ask if it is our issue for not concreting down the sides of the house, noting the builders display home have no concrete on sides and back of their show homes, and yet have no major movement or cracking. Thanks in advance, Herc130J It will be neat but you won't have much freeboard. At least they are not weep holes. Are you in a high intensity rainfall region? The regulatory slope is only required… 3 8763 We've had decent weather for last 7 weeks and now the drvieway has been cut out we had an evening of 50mm of rain including all the water from half the street, ground is… 0 4584 Just get as close as you can without hitting the posts. Once you are close to the edge of the path the chance of cracking is minimised. 7 9409 |
