Hi there,
I am renovating a 1960's bungalow in the Macedon Ranges VIC. We have just packed and levelled the house, in some areas the packing was 60mm. The restumper has advised I need an engineer to confirm new stump locations to support the original packed stumps over 20mm.
I spoke to a Structural Engineer who has basically said no engineering required when replacing stumps like for like.
I'm confused, my restumper has said the regulations have changed and the engineer is saying there is no requirement for engineering for an existing house.
I have searched for relevant building regulations or guidelines without luck.
Before I find another restumper, can anyone shed some light on this?
Thanks
