Browse Forums Building Standards; Getting It Right! 1 Jun 23, 2015 1:17 pm Hi all, Recently my independent inspection pocked up that flashing were not installed to the bca and AS which need to be 150 past the window. The builder porter davis responded by indicating they dont install flashings under windows on any of their builds... Can anyone confirm this needs to be done or if the builder is correct? Thanks Re: Sill flashings under windows during bricklaying 2Jun 23, 2015 2:31 pm if its in the BCA it must be done, unless PD hold a approved alternate solution. Ask them if they have an approved alternate solution, if not, then tell them they must meet the BCA requirments. Wouldnt surprise me if they do have an alternate solution though, they have one for waterproofing lol. Following that if the independent building inspector goes through the builder's Alternate Solution, determines the Alternate Solution to be flawed from their experience does not function as an alternative. i.e Independent inspection determines the Alternate Solution does not satisfy with BCA , however the builder feel it does complies with BCA, what should happen next?
