We’re getting quotes from places like Storage King, Kennards, etc. We need to de-clutter our place, and I was just wondering what anyone here has paid per month for storage? It’d be a smallish – medium sized container…to hold 5 IKEA Billy bookcases, 3 low smaller bookcases, 3 other items of small furniture, a chair, and some boxes. Several boxes for miscellaneous items.
So far Storage King is $170 a month, which I find quite expensive. Another local storage place is $138 a month. Is that more normal?
Thank you!

i'm in sydney so not sure if you can compare but I am paying WAY more than that. For all contents of 2 bed unit (so storage about the size of a garage) it's costing us $400 per month!

We used Portable on Demand Storage when we built our home. They deliver a POD to your house, you load it. They take the pod away and store it. Then Deliver it back when you want it. You can get access to it at their depot with notice. I think it was about $200 a month. Those quotes seem really cheap, not expensive!

Hi Grace, good to see you around again!
3 years ago we went with Storage King, and paid $265 for a large shed to house about 98% of our belongings and the broken down cubby house. By the sounds of the amount you will be storing, a small one will be fine. It's amazing how much you can pack into the space if packed with every square inch in mind. Ours was full from floor to ceiling, front to back.
If you find some smaller boxes to pack things in and then put them on the billy bookcases in the storage shed, you will save heaps of space. We had all our shelves, buffet, and odd cupboards in the shed full of packed things to save space.
