We live in Melbourne & have a mortgage, we wanting to move to north qld.i would like to put our melbourne house for rent and buy a house up north to live in. i'd like to know where do you start? we'd have to find jobs, but if we start new jobs we may not be able to buy a house up north, due to not enough employment history. so should we buy whilst we still have our current jobs and then move later? should we buy over there and rent it out for a while and then move? there's so many things to consider, its a bit overwhelming to know what to do first.
I have used my current job to get finance and bought a property in QLD whilst I was still in Victoria. Then again renting gives you the flexibility to change plans.
If it was me I would sell and be cashed up, but thats just me as I hate having the stress of worrying about bloody tenants
I have previously moved from Perth to Cairns (and back to Perth again). The other half made sure he had a job to go to and I found one once we got there. We did not even have a house to go to, vacancy rates were so good that we had a rental place within 2 days of arriving. We rented there for 6 months at first just to find our feet, then bought a place - the benefit of that was that you get to know the best areas to live before buying and you learn where everything is, so you can make sure you are in a location/street that suits you. I was very happy we did it that way, because it is not until you live somewhere that you learn the good suburbs from the bad...
