Browse Forums Windows & Doors 1 Apr 12, 2009 10:01 pm Ok well I have a bit of a dilema..... The outside of my house is beige and charcoal colour so really looking at the house from the outside in.... The windows would look better if they had a grey colour blind on them. But......... Inside the house it is beige and chocolate colours so from inside it would look nicer with chocolate blinds. I quite like the dark mocca timber slats for the front of the house windows. Then in the other windows would have to go for the day/night roller blinds, as the sun will come streaming in and be very glarey on the polished tiles. I was thinking of the chocolate colour as everything is very neutural as it is. the only other thing I could do is go for beige window blinds everywhere, so from the outside it would blend in with the paper bark windows, then have chocolate eyelet curtains for some colour contrast. What do you think would be best. Should I focus on what suits the inside rather than what it looks like from the street? Personally I'd go with what looks best from the inside Re: Window furnishing advice needed 4Apr 13, 2009 5:08 pm I'd do what looks best from the inside. You could always tint the windows so you can't see the blinds from the outside? Not that mirror tint, but normal tint. Our front windows are tinted, and during the day you can't tell whether the blinds are open or closed, let alone see what colour they are. BUT, l think for the front fascade something that looks good from both the inside and outside is important. And that's why l just love timber venetians We having them in the front and the rest of the windows will be a mixture of roman blinds, l have gone a chocolate colour (just to break up the beigeness of my house, lol) and creamy-beigey venetians for the living area windows. I don't particularly care how these look from the outside as passers-by won't see them anyway, so having them suit my light in/light out needs and colour scheme is my top priority. Oh! l forgot, l'm also having timber venetians in the ensuite and bathroom, purely for ascethetic reasons Re: Window furnishing advice needed 6Apr 27, 2009 8:17 pm Just bought some ready made timber blinds from curtain wonderland on the weekend. going to put them in the lounge and bed 1 and ensuite. They are in an espresso colour and look very nice Will be putting a fabric pelmet over them, was going to put ready made eylets and rods there but when I got the curtains home found out that they were too short so it looks like I will have to make some if I want curtains, I kept 1 curtain which I am going to cut up to cover the pelmets. Trying to decide whether to have contrasting curtain as well as I will have enough fabric to make matching tie backs like the pelmets. Will only put 1 curtain on each window though as they are only 600mm wide. So at least the windows to the front of the street will be covered I will worry about the back later Know where your going in life............... you may already be there Hi All, I engaged a tradie to install concrete retaining wall 600-800mm high over 32 meters in Victoria.
