Hi all,

We are in the process of getting quotes for shutters/venetians for our windows.

One place recommends PVC as the material as its easy to clean and cheaper if we wanted white blinds.

Our Second quote at another blinds place said that PVC is crap and will warp and only sells timber made blinds. His quote came in very close to our first one at around $100 more.

Soo who do we believe. What are your own experiences with either product?

Also I heard there are also mdf type products?

We got told wood for all areas except wet areas due to warping.
Hope this helps.

I'll choose wood. I heard about the warp also for PVC.

Thanks for your response guys! We are going to go with PVC. Easier to clean as well.

The type we are getting are privacy so you can remove each blind and wash them with a hose.

PVC Venetian Blinds wont bow as long as the width is under 2400mm wide and come with a 5 year warrantee.
PVC Shutters are fine as well but I would only use them for wet areas, the maximum width is 800mm, they come with a 3 year warrantee.
Basswood shutters and are the best and come with a 5 year warrantee.
If you were going to have white venetians in your house I would us PVC as they look the same as Basswood and are cheaper and both come with a 5 year warrantee and also come in a 63 mm slat.
If you have any more questions please just ask. Into Blinds 9078 9660

Has PVC venetians - fake wood type for 8 years in our last house with not one problem. Short of large amounts of heat on the PVC may cause change, but I would think it would have to be extreme.

We had the foamwood ones in our last house. Had no problems with them warping or losing colour. If our next house ever gets off the planning stage, then I will get them again. :)
