Browse Forums Paving & Concreting 1 Mar 27, 2018 3:08 pm Hey everyone, My partner and i are currently building on a battleaxe property (land size is 750sqm, 845 inc battleaxe handle) - we are really struggling to find ideas of how to complete a turning circle without our front yard being all concrete. Is there anyone on here that post some photos of their turning circles ??? Thanks Re: Battleaxe Properties 2Mar 27, 2018 7:31 pm Get a car turntable. I think I am going to be in the same predicament, with 'turning circles'. I'm looking for more information about these 'car turntables', eg. maintenance costs? operational issues? do Councils reject their installation, if there's enough land for turning circles? I have found one Australian company online, but want to find if anyone else sells them? Their turntable costs now (in 2023) are: ○ 1x car AU$ 26K ○ 2x car AU$ 42K Battleaxe Properties 4Apr 28, 2023 7:15 am https://www.saiglobal.com/PDFTemp/Previews/OSH/as/as2000/2800/2890.1-2004(+A1).pdf AS2890.1 shows the space requirement to turn around, it has a few scale diagrams. The space needed is not too bad and gives you some hard stand area to put stuff or do things. Re: Battleaxe Properties 6Apr 29, 2023 11:14 am aussieta is it just for family vehicles or to comply with firetruck turn circle Firetruck turning circle? I haven't heard that before, but that makes sense as well. The battle-axe property has a long handle 50+ metres long , and a further 65+ metres, with 3m elevation over that last 65-metres. Width is about 20m (from memory). It feels big, but there is a 'restriction' at the front of the plot, which is why I have a "limited area" at the front, to make a turning circle, and limitations with the building envelope to accommodate the dwelling. So, I was looking a turntables, to help with turning the car around, because Council requires driving out head first, from such a long driveway. Also, I think concreting driveways is not cheap, so the turntable is probably the same cost as that, and it looks a lot more elegant, except that it's relying on electricity to run (as I wonder what if there's a power outage and this won't work?) I really didn't think about the firetruck, but that's an excellent point Thanks for the insight!
