Browse Forums Bathrooms and Laundry Re: Do you HAVE to have obscured glass in bathrooms & toilets?? 21Jun 11, 2009 9:29 pm We got obscure glass put on both our ensuite and bathroom windows very naively thinking that this would be good for privacy..... It was only until we were at frame stage when my gf began to go bright red and pointed to our neighbour's house (unfenced) There, in all its glory, was the perfect sillouette of a man's naked body, with every nook and cranny quite visible..... They have obscure glazing on their windows too. We have since ordered translucent blinds for the wet areas. They still let a lot of light in, but you cant see through them. Re: Do you HAVE to have obscured glass in bathrooms & toilets?? 23Jun 12, 2009 8:00 am aaron4erin wakeboardandy aaron4erin We're having obscure glass on the bathroom and ensuite windows. Love having natural light and not having to close a blind (men just dont understand how much a woman needs natural light when plucking eyebrows etc etc etc) but can't you pluck your eyebrows with clothes on? I also cant put mascara on without my mouth being whide open... You should try it, it's impossible. Like patting your head and rubbing your belly at the same time So the moral to this little tale is (much to my husbands dislike for someone who thinks "they won't look if they don't want to) ... a womans business is secret business!!! Whether we want to colour our hair, pluck our eyebrows, do our fake tan, or whatever odd looking thing (to the man's eye) that we as woman do to beautify ourselves should be kept anonymous. We still kinda like to think that men believe that there is no effort on our part to look as glamorous as we do all the time Re: Do you HAVE to have obscured glass in bathrooms & toilets?? 24Jun 12, 2009 9:06 am We will only have obscured glass on the main ensuite. That is because it faces to our only neighbour's property. We will also have timber venetians on this window. The other 3 minor ensuites and 2 powderrooms are fine and aren't an issue with privacy so have plain glass should they have any windows (which 2 ensuites and 1 powder room do) Some things are worth waiting for. Re: Do you HAVE to have obscured glass in bathrooms & toilets?? 25Jun 12, 2009 6:08 pm We are having clear glass on all of our bathroom windows for a few reasons-our ensuite window has a distant view of the eureka tower so don't want to block the view, I prefer the more open feel you get with clear glass and our builder were going to charge us $440 a window for obscured glass which seemed excessive. We will just put window coverings on the windows later. Re: Do you HAVE to have obscured glass in bathrooms & toilets?? 26Jul 15, 2009 11:00 pm just to had to this thread.. driving home today I had a similar experience to ryan... as I was coming through eltham and was stopped at a set of lights, I looked out to my right up on the 2nd level of a house in full view of the main st in eltham was a naked lady in her bathroom.. (which wasn't a bad view, might I add.. ) and she had obscured glass, but I wonder if she knows how obscured it is? so another reason why I don't see the point in obscured glass if you still need to put a blind on it. Re: Do you HAVE to have obscured glass in bathrooms & toilets?? 27Jul 15, 2009 11:30 pm LOL! Ryan and WBA! Oh how embarrassing for the neighbour and the lady if they knew! We're having obscure glass to the bathrooms and toilets, even though privacy won't be an issue due to the rooms being located on the cut side of the house (so the fence will be almost roof high) we're are putting in timber venetians purely for asthetics. Re: Do you HAVE to have obscured glass in bathrooms & toilets?? 28Jul 15, 2009 11:50 pm We didn't have to use obscure glass, but chose to have it installed to avoid having to install window coverings. There are 2 types, one is clear but textured glass and the other is flat but a white-ish color. We went for the latter. Frost & Co looks like it could be an interesting option. Some good looking options that aren't just straight frosting, might have to look more into them. thanks for the links!!
